Lovely Beab sent me a selection of Penhaligons perfumes with a very cute & clever happy birthday sleeve on the box. Yesterday I wore Elizabethan Rose which I thought would be really old fashioned and sort of medieval smelling but wasn’t at all and Squeak was following me saying I smelled good all day.

Today I’ve put on The Favourite which is a bit powdery and more country house than the country garden of yesterday.

We have a penhaligons shop in Brighton and I can’t go in it. The smell is more overpowering than lush

I am wearing Un Jardin à Cythère by Hermès today. C got a 15ml bottle for me in duty free. It smells like the lemon prosecco cake I make with a little bit of woodiness. It’s lovely.

That sounds lovely! Does the woodiness help the lemon last longer than citrus usually does?

I’ve got to admit I put a lot on and it’s fading fast.

Your description of Cythere makes me think of Bois d'Hadrien, Pip. Is it similar? I have bought that to wear on holiday later this month.

I really liked that Milk sample you sent me, Luna.

Oh, that's a shame. I live in (vain) hope of an ever-lasting citrus top, middle and bottom note fragrance :)

I bought the M&S Ease based on a recommendation. I also bought Relax and think I prefer that one.

No, it’s not really that similar, I don’t think. I have both & love Bois d’Hadrien, but there’s something much greener about BdH.

I don’t think it exists, sorry.

I've just bought this perfume tester set from Liberty. I got £10 off for being a loyalty card holder and had a voucher for £50 so it seemed rude not to.

I'm very impressed so far. The samples are a decent size and the wash bag is very pretty.

I wore Sun Rae yesterday, pleasant enough that I will use it up but unlikely to purchase.

Morning Chess today, and that is lovely. Liberty seem to be obsessed with this brand as it's the third one I've had from them, but I've liked them all. This smells of leathery blackcurrants.

If you decide you’re not keen on Molecule 01, I will purchase this if you want :)

I'll bear you in mind when I get to that one Luna. Have you had it before?

I am on the Debaser today. Horrible name, lengthy description. I mostly get fig which is one of my absolute favourite smells.

That sounds incredible.

I have just drenched myself in the Hermes Un Jardin a Cythere in John Lewis. I might need a full bottle when I finish my mini one.

Who's Black Francis? I wouldn't know whether to spray that on or drink it.

I wore my sample of Milk to death in the cooler months and decided I really like it. It is a very "day off" perfume.
