I tried girlfriend jeans but they gave me camel toe which was sad as I really wanted to like them.

I am SO tempted by Lucy and Yak dungarees... it's the space, cotton, nothing to dig or cut in, vibe that is calling to me. I'm pretty sure I'd look like a patchouli scented potato in them, though.

My jeans are either boyfriend cut or straight leg; I've tried girlfriend cut but I have a boy-shape figure so they cut in on my waist and make me fidgety. What I'd really like are some boyfriend cut with a bit less fabric in the leg... yes, yes, I could take in a pair of boyfriend cut myself but I cba, it's easier to loudly lament my lack of perfect jeans :))

Loudly lamenting one's lack of perfect jeans is a part of the human condition  (Also, HELLO, THORA! )

Yes! I was quite shocked by that. Although I’ve not bought anything from them for at least 3 years now.

They've had stores in the UK since 1987! I remember saving up for a pair of white jeans from the GAP in York when I was 17  My friend squashed a cherry tomato on them on a school trip to Stratford-upon-Avon and the stain never came out :verm:

I remember buying a pair of chinos in Gap on Oxford Street when I was about 12 and thinking I was so cool.

Ugh, this thread resurfacing is making me feel like I need to try on some different style of jeans  I’ve started seeing non-skinny jeans infiltrate the community and wonder I need to give them a bosh? It’s all so confusing.

I feel sad about Gap too. My friend had a job there when we were in sixth form and she got me staff discount on my favourite ever grey Gap hoodie. God, I loved that jumper.

On a more practical note, their clothes really suit W and I like going in there for a blitz.

I had some Gap jeans at university and thought I was the absolute bollocks.

Having said that, I haven't bought anything there for myself or the chaps for about 10 years.

I loved Gap back in the day, I buy much less from it these days but I still like it for staples.

The state of the High Street really depreses me, I don't particularly like online shopping.

I used to buy quite a bit from Gap at one time but lately the clothes have been piss-poor quality, I found.

Gap kids pyjamas were the best and I wouldn’t buy any other kind for A & E when they were little. Their adult sizes always ran quite small though so I rarely got anything for myself from there.

Yes, the quality became steadily worse over the years. But you could still pick out the odd gem.

Once they started with the 30% off they then couldn’t stop.

There absolutely nowhere to physically shop any more, there’s no choice left.

True that. It was like DP. You just knew you could wait about 5 seconds and get it on a 30% discount so obviously you were going to do that.

Its really depressing.

Yeah, lately I would never buy from Gap without a code.

Did anyone see Mary Portas on the One Show last night? It was very interesting as she was champion of the high street and encouraging the more more more philosophy when in actual fact we should be reducing. She’s done a complete about turn. I don’t know what this means for businesses in general for the future.

I’ve never really bought from Gap but I do remember when I first started seeing J, and his wife came over in a navy blue hoodie with GAP in white in the front… I asked him after she left why she was wearing a hoodie with OAP on the front…
