So she's probably lying about bringing it to the dry cleaners ages ago. Do you think that would damage a dress which is dry-clean only according to the label?

Well I wash silk but I can tell if it's been washed.

I think if it had been dry cleaned, it wouldn't be crumpled because they would have steamed/pressed it. Unless it has been screwed up in a drawer after and not hung in a wardrobe.

I do occasionally wash things that are labelled dry clean only though. On a delicate/wool cycle, low/cold temp and reduced spin. I've never ruined anything.

I fold all my vinted stuff up in a box, so even if it was hung up once, then that could account for the creasing. I also wash dry clean items cos I cba finding a dry cleaner, and can tell with some things and not with others. What material is it?

Baa: viscose, lace and cotton. I know because I have the care label on the too-small one right beside me.

I'd wash that on a cold delicates / hand wash cycle and air dry for sure. Viscose and cotton should be fine. Who can be bothered to dry clean a white summer dress after each wear?

It looks like it's in shape and all the lace is all intact which would be my concerns. Unless it's $$$ I'd buy it if your heart's set on it.

I was going to say that it looks like coton, so there's no reason for that to be dry clean only, and it wouldn't bother me.

I would take the risk and buy it. Fingers crossed! She has good feedback so that's worth taking into account.

I've just had a buyer suspend the transaction on a coat that I sold because she says its a small size 14. It's from Monsoon which is a brand I think leans to vanity sizing, so I reckon she's talking bollocks. Anyway, I've never had anyone asking to return an item and Vinted are giving me the option to pay for return shipping. Am I being a bit dense? Why would I pay for it?

Some people do for goodwill I guess, but I definitely wouldn't when it's not your fault. If she returns it she can't give you a review anyway so she can't down rate you.

Thanks Ken, yeah I did wonder about reviews,I thought that might be the only reason sellers would pay. It's quite a fitted coat but it says that in the description so she can't really say it's small. I won't offer to pay then.

You’re within your rights to refuse a refund based on size if you’ve described it well, it’s up to the buyer to ask for detailed measurements if it might matter.

That said, my first ever sale I accepted a return based on size but made her pay the postage.

This is what I've done. I'm being a bit petty but it's a very good quality coat, I priced it at £20, she offered £8 which I thought was cheeky. I said I'd take £10, and she offered £9. I accepted but was a bit annoyed with myself so I'm OK to take it back. I think I might just give it to charity.

In the future I wouldn't refund - I go by what the label says as Vinted claims that XL is a size 14 (!!!) and other brands have very different ideas of what 14 and XL might be. So in my listings I say 'the label in this listing is what is written on the garment - please check the size of the brand will fit you and do ask if you would like detailed measurements".

Whenever I buy something which is correctly labelled but doesn't fit, I just sell it on as it's my problem.

I posted a top 30 days ago, it arrived in the sorting centre 26 days ago and it's been sitting in the sorting office ever since. Has anyone been in this situation before (as I haven't) ? Should I just sit tight until 9 August, after which this information I get when I click on "follow my parcel" seems to be suggesting I'll have 2 days to flag up a problem?

I have had a similar problem before and contacted the parcel shipping company. I didn't wait till the time was up. In one instance the parcel suddenly went to its final destination, in another it took something like 2 months in total. If you wait till the 9th then your buyer will probably get a refund with the risk that the item will get delivered after all. That happened to me once and I had loads of hassle trying to get my payment.

Thanks Dutchie. After your reply on Sunday, I followed up with Vinted support who told me to continue to wait. Today I got a notification that it looks like my parcel has been lost, and the buyer has until the afternoon of 11 August to declare an issue, otherwise the transaction will be marked as completed.

I've contacted the buyer to say this is the first time this has happened to me and I'm sorry for the inconvenience even though it's not my fault, and I contacted Vinted support, who confusingly said that I should wait until 25 days have elapsed (I posted the parcel on 5 July, so I don't know what they mean- maybe they mean 25 days excluding weekends and bank holidays, but that still seems at odds with the notification that the parcel is post and buyer now has 2 days to declare a problem). So I'm confused.
