How are the boots, Beatrix?
I'm sending back the coat. The lack of lining makes it feel a bit cheap and it's a bit big and shapeless on me even though I sized down. Look at me being an adult! :))

Oh, I'm glad you like the boots so much! That's very satisfying.
I don't actually need a new coat at all, I just fell in love with the pictures of that one. I will survive. :emme:

I fancy a quilted sweatshirt but my RL friend thinks it awful. Is she correct?

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I am wary of quilted things as they can add bulk. I think you'd have to try it on to know.

It doesn’t look too padded or puffy. I say try it!

It might be a bit shapeless, but also very cosy, so worth a whirl.
I've got a posh do tomorrow and panic-bought this from eBay. I love the colour but I've never worn a neckline nor sleeves like this before, being brooooooaaaadddd of shoulder, and I'm not sure it works. Your candid thoughts please?

I think it's a great shape on you! I'm not a fan of purple myself but it looks lovely with your colouring and very festive.

It’s lovely! And you do not have broad shoulders.

If I had a dress like that and looked like you in it, I don’t think I’d ever take it off again.

Re: Items to which I am allured
Blimey thank you all, I wasn't expecting that! I've always had a real Thing about my shoulders so I tend to wear V necks to try and slim them down. I felt this gave me a bit of a matronly bosom so I'm very relieved to know this isn't the case!

Re: Items to which I am allured
S has his investiture at Windsor Castle in a couple of weeks and the dress code suggests ladies wear a hat
. I had quite a lot of fun trying on hats in Fenwicks this afternoon with a real character who works in the hat dept. I kind of think it’s a bit overkill though and wondered if a hairband would suffice? If found this one in their sale section reduced to £15 from £75 and would go with my planned dress and coat (not the coat I’m wearing here).
What do you think? It’s actually two bows on a band and I’m not really a bow person but they feel more sculptural.

This is just me but I really, really hate the current trend of hairbands. I don't think it adds anything and I think it would detract from your likely very sylish outfit. But I say this as a hater of them (sorry) so I am biased.
What are you wearing for the do?

Lily, the dress and the shape of its neckline and arm caps look very nice on you. There is no hint of broad shoulders at all.

Yeah I do agree, I had a brief flirtation with headbands back in 2018 but was quickly over it :)) It’s a choice between £200 on a Kate Middleton-esque teardrop hat or a £15 hairband though. I probably won’t wear either again in my day to day life.
