I used to have a pirate lace up top. It was white and had massive collars too. I paid £50 for it back in 1994 and thought I was The Shit.

Every so often my sister will send me a photo of me wearing it.

I know! I begged and begged for it and used to go back and look at it daily. Eventually my best friend's older sister lent me the money and I paid her back weekly.

I am actually pretty sure I had something similar in the 90s. I wore it with green leggings and Chelsea boots and my dad used to sing the Robin Hood theme when he saw me. Well, he sang a rough approximation of it - he's tone deaf so it could have been the Match Of The Day theme tune.

I got it because it's long and covers my bum.

Jumpers look better when they don't cover the bum, anyway (in my opinion). My teenage self swore blind that they disguised a big bottom, but they don't; any bum looks better without one .

I actually want it cover my bum for long flights. I hate it when normal sweaters ride up at the back and there's a gap between the end of the sweater and the top of my jeans.
