What jeans are we meant to wear now?
Is it still skinny ones? I never seem to see anything else but have heard The Youth disparaging them.

We discussed this somewhere else recently, but I've bought two pairs of Mom jeans in an attempt to embrace modernity. I had lots of compliments about them. I'm not sure they really do me any favours, but neither do skinnies.

I can’t imagine I should be wearing what the Youths wear. ![Mr Green ](./images/smilies/mrgreen.gif)

I wore what the Youth are wearing about 40 years ago! ![😲](//twemoji.maxcdn.com/2/svg/1f632.svg)
I'll keep on wearing my skinnies, thank you very much![grin :))](./images/smilies/xiggrin.gif)

I saw a very clever thing today telling us to calm down, that Gen Z are just obsessed with trends. Basically, the skinny Jean has transcended fashion trends and has become a ‘staple’. So skinny jeans can never be over, just like a classic white T-shirt can never be over.
You’ll have to prize my skinny jeans from my cold, dead hands. This always seems to be controversial here but I think absolutely everyone looks better in skinny jeans and those who think they don’t are simply wrong![grin :))](./images/smilies/xiggrin.gif)

I like a mom jean , and a girlfriend jean. Or a straight leg jean. Anything with some shape but a bit of bagginess. I find skinny jeans too restrictive now, and can make people look a bit parsnippy.

I am 100% parsnip/golf club in them, but nothing else looks any better

I've enjoyed the additional comfort of mom jeans, that's true baa. Although that might be because I've larded out of my existing skinnies ![a single stoic tear ](./images/smilies/crying.gif)

I sat in a camping chair for a long stretch of lockdown, and the skinnies didn't mix well with the sharper angle of midriff folding posture. Then I got more into the gardening and need stuff I can lunge and squat in ![Lolling ](./images/smilies/laugh.gif)
And I do like the way they look, it's not all about folding and lungeing![grin :))](./images/smilies/xiggrin.gif)

Skinnies for boots, but I'm liking a straight-leg and cropped for wearing with trainers.

I'm a big fan of a full 70s style wide leg, and a straight cut Jean. Not enjoying mom jeans because they dig in the waist but a girlfriend Jean is good. I'm going to John Lewis soon and I'm going to try on allllllll the jeans. Might book into their Style Advisor service.

I've recently purchased a pair of slim jeans but they hover slightly above my trainers so I feel a bit of a dick in them.
I prefer skinny jeans, bootcut make me look and feel matronly

Re: What jeans are we meant to wear now?
It was me who was pondering mom jeans on the other thread. I tried them and it felt like there was just too much fabric around my middle/bum. So I left the shop with two new pairs of skinny jeans instead.
I’ve also recently been wearing a pair of low rise bootcut jeans which I bought in NY in 2001. I’m a bit self conscious wearing them to be honest, but they’re very comfortable.
I do struggle with the jeans/shoes combo unless the jeans are skinny.

Skinnies are perfect with ankle boots, which I live in in winter.
Remember when we all wore long boot cuts/baggy jeans which dragged along the pavement soaking up the rain and pavement scuzz.

I have some girlfriend jeans, and boyfriend jeans (can’t really tell the difference), and also relaxed skinnies, which are skinnier than a straight leg, but quite loose.
But I will not be wearing wide leg, bootleg or mom jeans.

I fucking detest skinny jeans. They are an abomination. I like straight or slightly bootcut. Normal rise (not low or high).

Re: What jeans are we meant to wear now?
I find Mom jeans tend to come outwards from the waist and then back in again to a taper, giving you bagginess on the thighs and tapered calves. Straight and straight/slim at least follows the line of the leg. No ballooning.
I'd go full wide-leg like the jeans of my teens but then I'm probably getting a bit old to dress like my 15 year old self (even though I actually still do).
