The ones that made it, made it BIG, in more heartening news :)

I've eeked out a bit if greenhouse space by flogging a load of cosmos this morning.

Right! I have planted out beetroot, chard, a LOT of little gem lettuces, and Marigolds. I've repotted my sweet peas, and put my luffa in the floor of the greenhouse.

Nice! I've planted all my bedding out so we can breathe again. I'll chuck the calendula out next weekend I think.

I hope your lettuce survives, mine got decimated last year! I'm just doing cut and come again in the greenhouse this year, which has been a dream so far.

Show us your loofah!

This maybe a silly question, but I've just received my 66 snap dragon plugs and they're teeny - do I need to assume they've been grown inside and can't go straight into the ground? And if I need to harden them off, do I need to repot them into 66 wee pots in the meantime  I don't think I thought this through :panic:

How small are they? They might be OK going out, I don't usually harden stuff off, but it sounds like they're teeny weeny. I do usually pot online plug plants up, then wait til they're a bit bigger, but if you don't have 66 pots, then they might have to cross their, err, leaves.

The plugs are about the width of my pinkie, the plants maybe have 6 or 8 leaves?

I have some random loo roll innards, I might try using them as makeshift pots for a fair few of them, and plant some others out and cross my fingers. Or their leaves :))

Ah, that'll work. Chop the loo rolls in half to eke out extra?

Plug plants are often miniature.

Have you got any yoghurt pots or anything like that? I punch holes in all sorts and make them into pots.

Egg boxes work too, I’m doing some lettuce in those and they’re looking okay.

I'd use egg boxes too.

Thanks for the suggestions - by the time I got around to potting them up they'd been in and out the greenhouse a couple of days, so I stuck the last dozen or so straight in the ground as an experiment. The rest were potted singly in loo rolls or sharing any bigger pots I had lying around. I just need to raid the recycling for the other plants I need to repot now :))

I planted out my borage, celery (way too much, but hey), and three types of squash - queensland blue, straightneck and Patty pan. The first is a winter pumpkin type, and the other two are summer squashes, in place of courgettes.

I was going to plant out some beans, but I'm holding back a few days so they can grow another leaf or two.

I also set up the solar powered water system in the greenhouse, I had just enough bits to get all the way around the greenhouse! Almost no spare bits, so I can't lose anything!

Thanks Tex. I plumped for a cordless Karcher as it got decent reviews and a mulch plug

What's a solar powered water system? To water inside the greenhouse??

I planted more annuals out this weekend. The front display looks nice again. I sold something on fb yesterday and two students from UWE came and they were so sweet about the garden, it really made my day.

One or two more weeks and then I can change the greenhouse around so its set up for the things which are actually going to live in there all summer.
