Amazing Jupiter! And good luck with the bugs, Del. I'm battling the return of black spot on my roses, despite diligently removing all signs of damage in winter and spraying since.

Good luck Abs, unfortunately there have been new bugs on them every time I've looked, and I'm advised that they'll probably stop the buds from opening

Asparagus barter.
I'm behind this sort of economy.
That's upsetting about your peonies, Del. And your black spot abs. I had/have black spot on my roses but wasn't attached to them (developer planting, not especially thrilling roses) - one was too far gone and had spread to a non rose next to it (!) so I removed both the plants, and cut off signs of damage on the other but I'll be amazed if it recovers fully. Something is eating my salvia (they are babies with just one or two leaves) but they are all producing new leaves happily enough so I'm hoping they'll bluster through it. I've just had notification of a load of stuff being delivered soon (I don't call this mid/end of May, I am not yet ready :)) ) - marigolds and nasturtiums as companions to the veg I haven't planted in the raised bed J has failed to yet build  , mint for a pot, and chocolate cosmos for I can't remember where. :))

Bloody pests (I include J in that for not building your bed :)))
If we're talking new things, I've got a lovely looking ceanothus to replace a ugly great laurel that got dug out last week, and a new type of buddleia that (allegedly) looks like wisteria in an attempt to try to start making a very disjointed border look rather better. Here's hoping.

Ooh. I love a good ceanothus (I have a small one thanks to the developers, it didn't do much last year but just watching and waiting) and an easy going buddleia that looks like a high maintenance wisteria is living the dream. :))

It's very much a vague approximation. If you narrow your eyes and look through a vaseline covered lens perhaps :))

It definitely has the wisteria droop. Which sounds less flattering than I intended. :))

She's a funny little pup  she has to be covered up when napping. We popped her in front of the fire to gently cook.

That's both her napping bag, but also her "I need carrying, my tiny legs have run out of walking" bag.

I finished work early today and have sowed 4 types of beans and planted out sunflowers, beetroot, turnips, and chard. I'm dead now

Re: Trowel and Error
I've had so little energy for this stuff recently Baa - walking around and seeing what is sprouting, deadheading bulbs and zapping green alkanet and horse chestnut saplings has been my limit this week!
I was excited by a new plant I spotted today - pendulous sedge apparently, which is apparently not as desirable as its name might suggest.
