That's because we've got arse all storage I think, which the government was warned of and ignored (quite obviously, because why do something)

Lower energy prices was one of the big brexit sellers though. So that's worked out well :ella:

Like all the other broken "promises".

I can't imagine how those already in low incomes will get by. I guess they either won't, or they'll freeze. Is any support being offered to them?

We're just robbing them of more UC aren't we? Because someone needs to pay for covid. And it surely should be people prone to freezing or starving all winter!

Yes, this on top of losing the UC uplift is horrific. Freezing or starving. What a choice.

Yes, I think it’s the opposite of support that they’re getting.

God, another Brexit based shitshow

We are with People’s Energy for Electric and they went bust last week and we are being forced over to British Gas for now. I’ve used Look After My Bills for years and they’ve just auto moved us onto the cheapest deal but they’ve said just let the switches happen for now and then have a look after that.

We have an oil tank/propane cylinder for everything else, I’m wondering now whether we should get it all topped up now before prices rocket further.

N phoned to ask if I had enough storage for an extra cubic metre of logs for the fire in case of gas supply problems. It’s not going to come to that, surely?

I would definitely be prepared! It does feel a bit end of days :uhh: The petrol station near us is out of petrol!

S has barely been at home trying to sort this out and simultaneously dealing with not enough C02 and too much C02.

I was thinking there’s finally an upside to not having mains gas but I suspect heating oil will be similarly affected.

I'm feeling incredibly glad we've fixed our tariff for another two years. We were with EDF and they merged into E.On who had the best prices when my deal was up.

My tariff with Eon is up mid October, currently £120 for gas and electric, I’ve been doing price comparisons and the cheapest I can get is £200 a month.

I don’t know what to do now because I started looking last week and could have fixed at £180 a month, but Martin Lewis basically advised not to switch if your deal hasn’t run out yet because you will save money being on the cheaper rate. Not if it’s going up weekly at that sort of rate though! Twist or stick, I hate gambling!

I know!

We have an old stone house that we’ve insulated as much as possible, but it’s still expensive to heat.

That is such a huge increase. What is happening to this country at the moment?

I bought loads of logs and smokeless coal a couple of weeks ago in anticipation of this. I'm with BG but my duel fuel is already £134 a month so goodness knows what the hike will be like. I think I'll order another load of logs at payday. What a treat!

Just before people’s energy went bust they had upped our electric tariff to £297 a month  just electric! I mean I love having a light on but, come on

I wonder if it was a last minute claw back tactic or something.

Pov blimey, do you host the Blackpool illuminations?

I switched over to Green but then realised Scottish Power offered a better deal so I stayed with them, which I'm glad I did now. This was back in July and I was surprised that Green were offering £81 a month when I normally pay about £50.

My electrician was here all day today (fortunately using batteries!). He said he'd gone to switch and all the switching sites were not in operation, or something.

Apparently we've had less wind than other countries which explains why we're worse off? We've never been short of hot air, a shame we can't heat our houses with that.
