Typical! It’s always the way with promos :ella:

I’m not sure a monthly budget for home stuff works the same way as food or clothes because you need loads when you first move and then might not need anything for ages.

We’ve spent a fortune but still need so much stuff. There’s no way Mr O will be able to keep track of it monthly as he gets paid every 2 weeks so I’ll bamboozle him with splitting it, carrying $ over, borrowing from the month ahead etc. :))

I’m saving this one for my dining table chairs. We still don’t have any.

ETA: sorry, I realise what an entitled princess I sound like complaining about chairs but I feel like we’ve gone from one half finished house to the next for the past 8 years.

I don’t think it’s princessy to want to live in a finished house.

No, especially not when you're living thousands of miles from home.

Yes, wanting chairs to sit on is hardly princessy.

It’s not princessy at all. I have two lists for my new house - the must haves and the nice to haves. Dining chairs and dining table and living room rug are on the must have list.

I bought a Dyson V10 this weekend. My BFF gave me a 50% off voucher for it (she works weekends in a Currys type store and got given it at a Dyson training session). I’m probably more excited than I should be about a vacuum cleaner but I currently have a DC54 or something like that and it’s well overdue being replaced!

Its too big. I cry. We could use it over the stairs though possibly.

They've got this one which is smaller and pretty similar (though not exactly) https://www.johnlewis.com/croft-collect ... e/p1871094

I hope it works over the stairs as it’s lovely, Smal. How big is too big though? I am quite fond of an oversized light fitting.

I have purchased the rug. I called West Elm directly and they gave me the discount.

It’s much nicer in the flesh but absolutely huge and could carpet most of my house in England.

Good work, Olive. It's lovely.

I really like the light fitting, Small. I hope it works over the stairs.

The front door would skim it. S and the builder both looked at me very sceptically and I had to grudgingly admit it wasn't practical :mog:

I love that rug olive.

Lovely rug. And I have my eye on that light for my bedroom, smal. And a similar hologram one for Mungus' room. I love a JL light.

So in the end I've bought this for the new hallway space, and the bigger JL one can go in the stairwell (because of the way its laid out you can't see both fittings at the same time)

It's Jim Lawrence. I'm at the point I might as well be throwing £20 notes out the window :))

Oh that is beautiful Smal. I want something like that for my living room, I keep drooling over one a bit like that in Laura Ashley but it is £££.

Jim Lawrence have some beautiful fittings. I've used the Ava at one of the wedding venues. I've also used the Alexa which is a Laura Ashley fitting at another venue and its so beautful. I wanted it for the living room but S wasn't keen, and they hung down a little too far (and cost £££ when I was looking, they're on offer right now though, typically).

They are both lovely. It is the Odiham one I like. I'll have a look at Jim Lawrence to see if they have one similar.

Oh yes, that's pretty. Jim Lawrence definitely have things of that ilk (though probably more expensive)
