That is so weird!

This made me laugh. The tiniest kitchen island in the world :))

This one isn't that strange, but the design of having built-in servant's quarters (with their own back staircase so you don't need to meet them more than you need to I guess) is a bit odd. :look: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/ ... el=RES_NEW

It also goes to show that even if I had a lottery win budget I still wouldn't necessarily get everything I want round here - it's huge, but I'd like a house where all three children can be on the same floor as me and P.

It might be a rental type set up. I stayed in a B&B that was basically one room in a house, with it's own entrance.

It suggests that it's useful for a nanny/au pair, and it does seem a bit 'know your place' to have to enter and exit through the utility room.

It is quite underwhelming for the price!

Is it something about Hampshire? My father’s house in Winchester (which now belongs to my half-brother) is the most bizarrely laid out house I’ve ever known. If my brother ever puts the house up for sale, it will be a worthy contender for this thread.
It’s like a normal midlife crisis only with more chandeliers and foreign languages.

Not sure how this house design/plan came up as a suggestion. I just can't see how having an indoor pool would work

Meanwhile this house is a total time capsule from the 60s! I did spend quite a while wondering what on earth they’d done with the kitchen ceiling

Oh wow! I see what you mean about the kitchen ceiling and had to zoom in. That's a very different way to display your collection

Oh wow, I love it :))

The rocking horse, the harp, and the strangely modern fitted furniture in one of the bedrooms

Oh that is an amazing time capsule. When I see houses like that, invariably chain free, a bit quirky, with a well tended garden, it always makes me a little sad. That's been a much loved family home and next time it appears on the market it will probably be greyed to oblivion with a blanket turf job in the garden.

For a 4 bed with garden and pool it's quite a bargain when minuscule 1 beds are going for £500K

Fantastic garden too! I also love the quirkiness of the house and its amazing kitchen ceiling!

I forget sometimes that I moved away from a nearby (and nicer) bit of North London in 1996…
