They all come up with much lower things, Marth. I guess it's not really a table - it's too high.

Can you google the dimensions you prefer along with side table?

Tried that, thanks, but nope. I get even more pointless suggestions where the dimensions are reversed :)).

There must be a name for what I want, but I can't think of it. I might just get M a DVD thingy of his own and keep this one. It isn't being used for DVDs though, so it's a bit pointless when I want one in the other room for that very purpose.

Wayfair let you filter by height and width I think they have some skinny shelving units or side tables that might do the trick.

Some of the fake kallax might work (you can't get 3x1 kallax I don't think) like this

If your back's against the wall, turn around and write on it.

Thanks Ken, I'm looking for something less utilitarian though. The one I'm replacing is a bit like this.

Oh. For some reason I can't upload a picture. A bit like this one. Someth8ing similar but nicer would be perfect.

This isn’t as tall (70cm) but it’s the right width and taller than most side tables. What is it going next to? Just wondering why you needed something tall. https://www.tikamoon.co.uk/art-pola-sol ... vUQAvD_BwE

Thanks emma. It’s just to put a lamp on. It needs to be taller than the sofa to let the light into the rest of the room. There are wall lights in the alcoves, a floor lamp in one corner and this is going in the other corner.

Is your sofa very large? I have a side table with a lamp on that is too tall to go next to my sofa! It's 67cm. Maybe my sofa is just very low :))

No, not really. The current one is taller than the back of it, which is tall enough for the light to shine down - it would get lost otherwise, i think.

The lights are on now, so I can't get a photo, but I'll try to remember to take one tomorrow so you see what I mean.

I just did some searching on Amazon for you & found “telephone tables” so you might have some luck if you search with that term.

Thanks, Lola - these seem to be the very thing. who'd have thought? My parents had a telephone table in the hall, but it was low - a bit like a mini chaise longue, with a padded front and a lift-up table bit where the directories were kept :)).

Anyway, what about this one? I could put a plant on the shelf at the bottom if I find one that doesn't mind being out of the light. Does it look a bit grannyish though?

I'll keep looking, as so far I've just looked on Amazon and there might be more out there now that I've got the right search term. Thanks again!

Or this one is plainer
