It's gorgeous, Five!
As is your son's kitchen, rosy.

Re: 2023 Home Renovations
Thanks all. :)
I missed the kitchen - it looks fantastic!
The before photo of our main floor bath is the realtor's one and looks better than it actually was. I'm glad to have it done before R's mom arrives. I noticed the toilet handle didn't match, so have changed that now. The quartzite was ridiculously expensive for how small the bathroom is, but since the shower is in good shape, we didn't have to do anything to that and saved money there.
Now we have to save for our next project - there are so many!

Re: 2023 Home Renovations
Our bathroom was meant to start on Monday next week. We had accepted the quote and timelines etc. Today we got the final contract and he said while it will take 6 weeks, the contract will state 15 weeks. We said no, we want the contract updated. And he spat the dummy, called us arrogant and that he isn’t doing the job anymore. So that’s great. On the upside we have our $5k deposit back. But we waited 6 months for him. And I don’t like our chances of finding anyone else with availability any time soon.

Glad you got the deposit back! Sounds like he probably would have been difficult so it’s probably for the best you found out before he even started the job. Hope you can find someone else.

Re: 2023 Home Renovations
Mr BF's one man rear single-storey extension project is finally making real progress. Extension comprises seating area with small utility and cloakroom.
The initial groundworks/drainage were carried out by a local firm of groundworkers, but the rest (building external/internal walls, tiling the roof, hanging windows/doors, cementing floor, plumbing/installing toilet/sink, insulation/plasterboard) are all his work - with each stage passed by Building Control. When the old 70s sliding doors (that sat betwixt our kitchen/diner and the extension) came out on Saturday just gone it all seemed quite surreal (see below pic). Electrics (done by an electrician workmate of his) are all done and plastering (again by a workmate with plastering experience) is being done in about 3/4 weeks.

That looks fab and I agree with Pip. I wish I could do more "handy" things.
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just fuck off and leave me alone.

Re: 2023 Home Renovations
I still haven’t thought to hard about how to move forward with the bathrooms situation. However my walnut panels to cover up the massive Brooklyn streetscape feature wall in our hall is being delivered this afternoon and I’m very excited. It’s this product and I’ve literally just discovered you can put LED lights in it which will happen too!

I really love those wooden panels Est, I think they add such a nice feel and texture to a room. A friend has installed it in one of her, mostly white, rooms and it makes it feel so much more welcoming now.

Thanks. I think they’re going to look pretty good. We have unpacked to see what they look like in-situ.
