Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
I'm not a fan of the corner sofa and had to stand my ground against a brief fad Mr R developed for them when we were hunting for our new sofa.
That living room is just depressing.

I quite like a corner sofa in the right room. We will probably get them as it's quite long and narrow since the wall came down and I think it will help to sort of square it off and make the 2 ends look more like part of the same room.

That house is upsetting. There's something of the potential murderer's lair about it.
I didn't used to like corner sofas until my friend got one, it was so amazingly comfy and just the right proportions for sitting and gossiping
.
Our new sofa will have a chaise end, I'm terrified I'll hate it but hopefully slightly less than I hate the current sofa :fc:.

I have corner sofa and I'm not ashamed. My living room is big enough for it though.

Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
In the right room a corner sofa can work really well, I would protest against a blanket ban.
I've just come back from a house viewing (as predicted, flat not for me but I really like the block) and the plonker who's done it up for sale - one of those ' slap on a coat of paint, put basic white kitchen and bathroom in and the same carpet throughout' jobs - was so keen to put in a useless breakfast bar in the tiny kitchen that he hasn't left any space for a fridge.
When I pointed this out to the EA there was a pained silence :))

Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
No fridge! Did they have one in a utility room or something?
That corner sofa is far too big for the room ... but what about the black and white wallpaper in #13? It is creating a weird and rather claustrophobic visual effect for me - as if the walls are closing in.
We had an L-shaped sofa in France. It was a sofa bed with a useful space under the short end for the bedclothes. When we rented out the downstairs flat, we brought it back to Ireland and it now graces my studio above the garage. It's too big for the space but, yes, R and I do sleep up there occasionally, if we have a guest overflow in the house (family and friends, not B&B'er, I hasten to add).

I have a corner sofa and I love it. :)) Some of them are dead grim though.
A normal one would look a bit lost in my gaff. And it would be covered in pets. :verm:

No, it's empty and 'done up' for sale. I reckon he inherited it from an elderly relative (the agent was vague when I asked).

No fridge! Dry toast, milkless cereal and black tea to be consumed at the breakfast bar, then

Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
If an estate agent calls a small house 'extended' when really all it has is a conservatory, are they a big fibber or is that an accepted way of using the word?
My over-the-road neighbours are clearly hoping their conservatory means their house is worth £50k more than the identical ones surrounding it

We've got a corner sofa too, a big one but our living room is big. It's very comfy and works well when we have lots if people here. We have a footstool too . We also have a number of blankets . I do dread to think how my house would look in an estate agents brochure.

Good god! It's actually a nice flat if you remove the enormous quantities of stuff.
What do they do if they actually want to cook anything?
