I do love it and actually can’t believe it’s mine (first house in my name!) I’d forgotten so much about house as the estate agent photos weren’t great and we’d looked at so many houses by the time we’d offered. It felt a lot bigger than I’d remembered when we got in with just the stuff from our old house yesterday. Now the stuff from the US has arrived it feels a lot less roomy :))

But the guest bath and bedroom is much nicer than I remember. And has the best views! We’re sleeping in there at the moment until we sort out our room tomorrow. The white goods are much better than I remember too. They were absolutely filthy though! :emme: The fridge took me an hour to clean last night and the freezer 30mins this morning. The dishwasher was so vile I had to go and buy dishwasher cleaner to run through it before I even started to clean it! I opened the microwave and quickly closed it  I’m going to call an oven cleaner tomorrow

It will all be worth it though. And the kids LOVE it!

People are so grim. But yay!

Cut a lemon in half & microwave it for a bit before wiping it, that should help.

That’s a lovely picture! I second Pip’s lemon suggestion.

Our buyers have just knocked on (they want to buy our wardrobes and Chester drawers) and they are absolutely vibrating with excitement. They're very young and cute and they have a very nice Labrador puppy. I hope they’ll be happy here.

I am feeling very emo about leaving my beloved house, even though it’s right.

You put so much into that house Cluef, I’m not surprised. It’s all lovely and exciting though.

I'm not surprised either! Blood sweat and tears in there.

Has there ever been a more successful Turtle House Buying week?

It is dead exciting. I am looking forward to seeing what my dog and child make of carpet. They’ve never had any before.

Congrats emma! It must be lovely to finally be in.

Good luck for all the other movers :)

So glad you have finally moved into your new home emma_p! And particularly that you get to rediscover all your stuff! I bet your house feels completely stuffed after the minimalist years :)

I hope you cook something nice with the return of all your specialist equipment.

How’s the packing going cluef and nine? :weewee:

I spent 4 hrs cleaning the house we moved out of  then came home to slog through more cleaning and unboxing. I really wish S hadn’t invited his parents for a party and to stay over on Saturday! Especially since he has a job interview tomorrow so can’t help today or tomorrow.

The packers are there right now and apparently will be done in half an hour! I’m so glad I went with my gut and booked movers who wanted to pack the day before. It’s taken about three hours and there’s no way we’d have been out by 12 if they’d come in the morning. I also couldn’t have handled the stress levels.

Having a glass of wine in the pub before I head back for more cleaning.

Thank you! I’ve had pizza via Deliveroo. There’s still a good hour’s packing left for them to do in the morning 😬

Getting a very early night and I’m looking forward to seeing the back of this place.
