Yes. It's super close to school and Liv has another 7 years there. Loads of school families live on the same street or close by as well as my BIL.

(I would secretly lobby to keep the aga because it matches my kitchenaid :shh: )

You should definitely keep the aga! (I may be slightly biased though  as I love mine and wouldn't be without it).

As sacrifices? Could be a little extreme.

Fingers crossed for you, Emma.

The quirky house sounds interesting. At least you know it is loved by her! Good luck.

Our offer was rejected as they have a higher one on the table. The agent called us just now to say they have three proceedable offers and want best and finals by lunchtime tomorrow!

The higher offer that we turned down has come back with another higher offer! :emme:

Favours. £2.50 and 7 seconds in heaven.

I feel oddly disloyal sharing the quirks. They were a definitly a bit weird, but it was more the way the owner insisted we admired them, telling us the history behind each and every one. She seems to have recreated memories of key life events, in her house - and genuinely believed they made it magically more desirable. Not quite frescos of the view when you lost your virginity, but not far off.

The only story-less feature was the fact all the (beautiful, original) doors had been sawed in half horizontally.

What are you going to do? :panic: We went into a bidding war for our house and ours wasn’t the highest offer but they picked us anyway so good luck!

How much higher is the new offer for your house..?!

Stable doors, wow.

:nerves: All I know is that while there’s a mini summer boom in our leafy suburb of London, this is happening more generally and in the autumn, when we might tank out of the EU, and any summer sales might be completing, who knows how much worse it will get.

Stable doors for tiny Shetland ponies. The cuts are maybe two-thirds down. My introduction to the door situation was nearly falling over the closed lower part of one.

What are you going to do, Emma? I've seen the doom headlines too. Not very reassuring.

No, she never mentioned it. I thought dogs. Or kids. Surely you just buy a portable stair gate or two before going wild with a chainsaw.

Chainsaw-ing original doors in half!

We have upped our offer. I’m not expecting we’ll be the highest, but we don’t want to / can’t pay more than the house is worth in the current climate (weird SW London bubble notwithstanding). Obvs it would be great if we get this house though :))

My kids were cackling this morning over pony doors :)

Survey soon. I'm so thrilled the kids will finally have some space to exist. I do have sentimental feelings for the little house, but they've been so limited.

Fingers crossed it's an absolute steal, and not a nightmare moneysink.

I don't really know what to think. We've asked for clarification on a few things (building regs, surveyor reports for 'improvements' she carried out) and she's all very airily reassuring in her replies, but there's been a couple of small fibs and - hmm. This is why I prefer houses that haven't been tinkered with. At least you know the work is right if you organise it yourself.

Fingers crossed, Emmap. And you too, Daire.

We didn't get the house  The other two offered full asking price. Nothing round here has gone at asking price since we've been home!
