Show me your peppermill

Post by Arrietty »

I need a new peppermill, as the grinder mechanism has snapped off our current one, rendering it useless. It was only two years old . Of course the matching salt grinder is fine, so I’m undecided whether to go for just a peppermill or buy a nice new set of both. MrA is threatening to use a pestle and mortar from now on :))

On a related note, are peppercorns harder than they used to be? A couple of months ago I chomped down on a whole one and cracked a molar, and now this!

I have used, been disappointed by and thrown away many pepper mills in my lifetime. I have had this one for five years and it is still going strong; when it dies, I will replace it with an identical one.

I bought S this classic Peugeot one years ago. We take it on holiday and it was one of the few kitchen items we brought in our suitcases when we moved each way. Can't be without it!

Mine is a David Mason Design, chosen especially for robustness.

Always go with a Peugeot, they're practically indestructible.

I have the Tahiti style in matt black but you can get them in all sorts of colours.

I’ve got the Joseph Joseph Milly ones that you turn upside down to use so they don’t spill (as much).

Mine is Peugeot too. I have a very old classic one, but recently got this one as I liked the look of it so much.

Robust definitely seems to be the way forward, we are all quite heavy handed in our household, especially MissA, who we call “Tested to Destruction Girl”. Though she doesn’t like pepper, so cannot be blamed in this particular case :)

The Hive Mind has spoken! I have gone for the Peugeot Tahiti Duo in black and white. I am of an age where I am beginning to hope that anything I buy might see me out, here’s hoping they last longer than two years, anyway

I have Cole & Mason ones, they must be about 20 years old!

These ones are similar, except mine are wooden at the top

Aww I had that bunny ears one years ago but I took it to work and someone stole it. I've had Cole and Mason ones but they irritate me as pepper goes everywhere in my cupboard. I got these Good Grips ones recently, they are upside down same as Froozy's.

The only thing that would make the Peugeot one better is not having to put it in a little saucer to catch the little bits of pepper dust out of the bottom

I have the same as you, Heebie. We bought them after the move to this house and they've done well so far.
