Candles

Post by smalex »

Usually around now I'd go and sniff some candles in Home Sense and get something for the season. Presumably shops won't be open much longer though. Please recommend. I want something quite large (the St Eval one isn't big enough). Preferably not inclusion, but if its the best I will. Cinnamon/orangey/spicey. I won't spend diptique/jo melons (autocorrected to melons but it made me laugh) money, but I'd spend up to 40 ish.

Earl of East are very good quality for the price. Personally, I think cheap candles are a false economy as the scent is usually disappointing.

Yes, I like something that lingers. Home sense often comes up trumps because there's often nice brands in there (neom even occasionally), I wish they had an online shop.

Are there any on the TK Maxx website, since that’s essentially Home Sense?

This is my haul from Home Sense today. :flollop:

F got a giant peppermint bark one. Their whole Christmas range seems to be out now, but is mainly DW Home branded in all its many guises.

Neom prices seem to have gone up a lot? I also found the last one I had didn't burn very cleanly. It produced a lot of smoke and the wax was discoloured by the end.

I didn't know there was a TK maxx website so I'm not sure!

Is wax lyrical any cop these days? Is TWC winter scent nice? I can't really remember

I want the neom oil for my diffuser so I don't want a candle in the same scent really

There is definitely a TK Maxx site, and they are the same company.

Theyve got quite a few but nothing suitable unfortunately! Good idea though.

The Pumpkin Spice crackling wick candle I bought a few weeks ago has been lovely and very well scented. It's via Amazon but a small independent maker called Scents of Happiness. They do a Cinnamon Vanilla one which I'm now tempted by:

Lots of recent reviews here if you haven't seen it.

I agree with pd about the cheaper ones being a false economy. The exception to this rule for me was always Lily Flame. which I remember being very nice.

I really like TWC Winter too. Last year (I think) I had one of the larger ones and it had orange slices and cinammon sticks within the wax which was pretty.

Has anyone ordered from the botanical candle co? They've got some nice sounding scents, soy wax.

I really like PF candles. They have a smoky cinnamon one but I haven’t tried it. I like all the others of theirs I’ve tried though.

I bought a Ferm Living advent candle last year that was delicately cinnamony and I would definitely recommend that. I think it was reasonable and came in a pretty green glass.

Fellowstead Orange peel and ginger was lovely too when I had that last winter so that might fit the brief.

I don't know anything about candles and only have become interested in them this year. Is anyone familiar with our Bath and Body Works candles? I'm assuming because they're not expensive, that they're not nice either.
