I've chillis coming out my ears
I got this for my birthday (obvious 40th gift, you'll agree) I'm going to make it into a water garden. Has anyone done anything like this? Do you think I can do it now or wait until the spring?
There's at least twice as many still ripening. I don't think I eat this many chillis in a year. I got this for my birthday (obvious 40th gift, you'll agree) I'm going to make it into a water garden. Has anyone done anything like this? Do you think I can do it now or wait until the spring?

I freeze fresh chillies and chop them straight from the freezer, they look great!
I'm going to make a wildlife pond toooo! I'm going to dig it in the next few weeks, and fill with water, but will probably add the plants in spring, as that's what the Internet suggested.

I will freeze them, I froze the few tiny ones I grew last year and it worked well.
Hmm. Its a bummer to wait until spring but I think I will.

Lots of people locally put boxes of chillies outside their houses for people to take.

I love all the chillies!
G keeps harvesting mine for me, but the big ones are staying green. I must remember to save seeds for next year and not eat them all.

I'm really trying to save more seeds this year too! I've got little envelopes.

I need to get envelopes, I’ve got more cosmos and sweet peas than I’ll ever be able to plant too, so I need to give some away.
PS, does anyone want any cosmos or sweet peas?

We dug up the rest of the po-tay-toes (there were loads!) And harvested the apples. Best apple crop ever!

The apples look fantastic!
We had a handful of home grown french beans in our curry this evening.

Brilliant! Those apples look great.
My tomatoes survived me being away! The blight had appeared in the greenhouse, but I seem to have paused it for now. I cooked 2.5l of tomato sauce for the freezer, and also made the top recipe on this page.

Wow, look at all the delicious produce!
Beena, we are thinking about an orchard too so I'm interested to see how you go with that.
We have no veggie patches or fruit trees in our new place. It's mostly grass and a bit of forest, with some wildflowers etc running down the side of the creek. The field next to us is corn, we have a butternut squash patch across the road and a huge watermelon field down the road. So that's some inspiration. Not that we have a field to fill! Right now I'm trying to figure out what's in our flowerbeds next to the house, because most things are fading away and will need deadheading etc.

I've made a pond area! And killed off a plum tree. The plum is where the patchwork lawn is, and the pond area was all turf. It's a wierd corner that is annoying to mow, so I got to dig it up. You should be able to see the pond outline in the closer photo.

I'm getting there! Once I have plants, I'm hoping it'll soften the edge a bit. All my beds are edged in flint, so it matches with that.
