That looks amazing Liv.
Yes, the tiles are made to look like wood but are porcelain. We had replaced a worn Karndean floor.

Re: 2021 renovations
That looks great. We also want to do similar on our conservatory - but possibly put a couple of velux in to increase the light. But maybe it’s not really needed as you say, as there’s still a lot of window for light? (south facing too).
It would mean we could lose the French doors that open into the conservatory which are just really annoying when you are trying to manoeuvre around the room.
They really are pointless rooms otherwise, unusable if it’s slightly hot or slightly cold (so about 330 days a year)

Re: 2021 renovations
So true! I was delighted to buy a house with a conservatory….until we moved in and I discovered that it was either freezing cold or stiflingly hot. I’ve also lived in fear for the last few years that one of our children will accidentally shut a pet in there too (small insight into my anxieties there ).I’m so happy that we’ve now converted it.Princess Morripov wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 2:22 pm They really are pointless rooms otherwise, unusable if it’s slightly hot or slightly cold (so about 330 days a year)

Re: 2021 renovations
We were burnt (dad joke, lol) completely by the one we put in our old house too, we paid more for a Celsius glass roof that apparently stopped the heat getting in/out but it was a load of bollocks, naturally only discovered once it was up and as we made it all open plan into the kitchen and dining room it turned most of the house into a sauna when it was warm unless we had the doors wide open, which was fine when we were in the house but if we popped out, you’d walk back into a blast of heat. I was quite thankful we sold it in October and the buyers didn’t notice it

Re: 2021 renovations
For the first time in nearly 6 months we have actually had some building work done today (as in creating something new rather than just digging or filling holes).
It may only be three levels of brick but it’s a massive step forward.

We are in! We unofficially started moving back in last week but the stairs was finished yesterday so we could sleep upstairs. Will post photos when things are a bit more organised.

Re: 2021 renovations
Exciting! Perfect timing too!
My neighbours on one side are doing a massive accidental renovation (turned out the house was in complete disrepair so their originally planned two story extension has turned into a complete new roof, everything stripped back to the brick and now they are now living on site in a caravan. I mean he owns a garden centre near by so it’s well kitted out but still, caravan in winter sounds grim as. Feel like they should have given Grand Designs a ring

Your poor neighbours! The summer was OK. We just managed to get back in before the weather turned.

Re: 2021 renovations
After a mere eight months of trying to find a builder and dicking around with quotes, I have agreed to proceed with the nice one who came over a couple of weeks ago. We’re talking about an April start. Fixed price!

Fixed price is excellent! I hope it’s all smooth sailing from here now.
After our extension quotes tripled (despite the extension being even smaller than we had had quoted initially), we decided to redo the kitchen instead (and then eventually sell in the next year).
The storage is so much better than before - no more saucepans and baking trays falling out every time we opened the cupboard!
