Steps are a really good idea. What a lot of work though!

I'll bear that in mind re. the mould, thank you.

I only discovered it recently, when the fence panels fall down in the storm :)) I wonder if roses would be less dense and wouldn't hold all the moisture in, particularly in winter. Wisteria might be worth thinking about? Less long term flowering than roses potentially though.

We don't actually have the wood or gravel for the steps, I just got excited and dug a hole  i do have two weeks off though, so it seemed like a good time to finally do it.

Oh good effort digging that out though, steps sound a much better idea!

Scare Pig is weathering the storms (apologies in advance for any nightmares caused - on the plus side the birds are staying well away).

The good thing is whilst I personally think he is fucking horrifying, the small chaps all think he’s an amazing super pig protecting the garden :look: :mog:

I'm quite scared by Scare Pig.

I am considering garden options at the moment, I am quite overwhelmed and really can't decide what to do with the space. Mainly because it looks so awful at the moment

Scare pig is hilarious. Was he just knocking about the house, Pov or was he a special purchase?

I had roses growing against a fence in London and didn't have any mould issues so that seems like a sensible choice. And I do love roses.

Have you any vague thoughts, cos? Can we assist?

Roses are lovely, I have two newbies for this year, and one that I uncovered that sprung back into life.

We decided it would be an amazing idea to use the spare soil from the steps to fill up a dent in the lawn. So I peeled it while The Bf cut the steps.

Why does everything snowball

The bricks were stepping stone type things across the lawn, they'd been eaten by the turf. I have freed 29 so far  help.

Every monstrous project in our garden has started from A announcing “I’m just going to go and look at that bit of fence outside” and 20 minutes later there’s all kind of destroying going on

It's all too monstrous  The Bf has done his back in (moving the first fence post off the van), so he will be in charge of thinking and screwing wood together, and I will be digging and lifting.

DIG DIG. The wood is just there so we could see what size the steps would be, and to make sure that the siding fits. But it's looking a bit more like steps!

Now I have a garden :bel: I am interested in threads like this! Baa, I feel excited looking at your photos. The garden is going to look ace! I'm less enamoured by Scare Pig, having read Pig Island by Mo Hayder. :look:

Today I spent a good hour and a half weeding my drive. God, it was satisfying - but at the same time, I found it impossible to leave even the tiniest weed unplucked so it took about twice the time it should have.

Outside done! Plus adding rubble that I dug out while digging the steps/dismantling the small wall.
IMG_20220301_161454.jpg
Filled with shit sandy gravelly soil that I dug out from the pond and hid in the field next door

Tomorrow is sub base and gravel day! And then stain the wood, and then we will be done!
