I did slightly bad maths, and now we have two spare bags of sub base and sand, but look! Gravel!

Once it's dried off, I'll stain the step wood and the siding.

I AM DONE. I stained them this week, so the wood all matches. I have added the usual flint edging. Most of the flint on the right side was dug out of the step slope

What's your next project?

I'm feeling quite inspired since watching Gardeners' World last night. I ordered some sweet pea seeds and have just got back from a really nice local nursery with some seed trays. They have a compost scheme with reusable bags tooo which is going to be really handy. I can't do much yet because I'm having some work done next week but I am getting prepared!

I am going to make my hourly rate very high.

Next jobs are the usual "sow everything and grow way too much veg". Next big project is to plant up the pond, which is just water and bare earth (and flint edging, obv). I want a mini waterlily

My paw paw that we planted a couple of months ago is sprouting some new growth which is great. It still looks like a tall, skinny, truffula tree from Dr Seuss though. And my nectarine tree that I thought had died is blossoming.

I am so envious of the fruit trees! My new apple tree is beginning to flower. My ginger is actually sprouting as well, fifth time lucky

I am top of the allotment wait list! They did offer me a half plot, but I'm going to hang on for a full plot.

My apple tree has a little bit of blossom appearing too. The mulberry isn’t looking too good though. I think we need to trim it up top.

I went round to a friend’s place last week and she had watermelon and rock melon vines and I’m super envious. I think I have a decent spot that I could try that behind the kids’ cubby house so I shall think about that.

An allotment is very exciting! Hopefully you don’t have long to wait now your on the top of the list.

Yes! Grow melons! Mumbaa gave me a couple of plants once, and I had one whole (v small) melon.

Do you get to view your plot before accepting it Baa? We landed with one that had been used by a landscape gardener to dump all his waste. Had six foot plus nettles and brambles all over it . Spent ages to clear it unsuccessfully.

Oooh that's exciting, an allotment!

We've made a lot of progress on the garden the last few weeks, planted all the hanging baskets/pots, we've done loads of pots on the patio, and I've moved a monstrous cordyline into a massive pot outside as it was taking over the conservatory.

The scare pig did his job and most of the grass has grown so the lawn looks loads better now, and A has nearly finished painting all the fences and shed/dog kennel thing black instead of the horrible red we inherited. Will take some pics later!
