It's gorgeous. All that space in your kitchen!

I really hope my table fits through the new pocket door

I mapped out the table/kitchen configuration before the wall came down using newspapers (and the actual table) but it's hard to imagine IRL. If it fits into the room.

I'm also fretting about saving two parking spaces for the removals when I am not actually there. I have contacted a number of neighbours to help.

More excellence, nine! How exciting :)).

May we see a picture of the pocket door, please? I think I can picture one from your description, but I'd like to be sure.

I don't have one but I will take one for you if you like :)) It's just a sliding door that slides into a special wall with a pocket in it.

OMG! I need pocket doors! I didn't realise this was a thing!

Lovely carpet, nince. I bet that's as satisfying to stroke as a cat...with none of the surprise biting. :))

It’s engineered wood, Chicks.

It’s the day before moving day. I’m at the house with the builder and handyman going through a long snagging list. The decorating is terrible

It looks amazing (I can't see the decorating from here :)) ). So much space!

Will they redo the crap decorating? That's a real disappointment.

The house across the road from us had loads of issues with the decorating - patchy paintwork, paint splashes where they shouldn't be, uneven plaster - and they fixed it all in half a day. I am probably more ignorant about what's doable than most but there were loads of things I would have thought would be a pain to fix that they just sorted in minutes. Hopefully yours will be the same.

Someone with no skills whatsoever did the painting.

All the cutting is appalling - no tape used. Bleeding. Blobs on skirting boards etc. Paint splashes everywhere. Some areas missed out entirely.
Whoever did it obviously didn’t give the slightest shit.

My builder tried to mansplain it’s because my house is old and wonky but that doesn’t explain several 2p-sized blobs of white paint on blue shelves, does it? Obviously I was not having any of that.

I bet they gave the job to a youngster who’s never painted professionally before :verm:

Have you paid them in full? If not hold back what you need to get it rectified.

That’s really bad. I hope they get it fixed properly and quickly.

And what a nonsense excuse :ella:. Our house is very old and wonky but the decorating was all good, there were (still are!) a few brush marks on door hinges but apart from that I don’t think they had to remedy anything after it was done, the finish was right first time. (Loads of it looks shit now three years later though, where we’ve bashed it and things have happened, and I’m gearing myself up to repaint in the autumn :ruby:).

I hope moving back in tomorrow goes well :love2:

We spent around eight hours at the property yesterday. It’s better than before but still not great. The handyman was an absolute Trojan and I bought him some beers. Ideally I’d have parts of it redone but it’s just not practical and will do some fixes myself. I got a free toilet and bathroom tap (+labour) by way of an apology.

IT’S MOVING DAY! I got up at 6.20, loaded the car with the last of my stuff, was just about to leave and the removal men texted to say they’d arrive at 9am now. 😣
