The shutters look great!

I hope you (well, the builder!) can sort the window out. I wouldn’t want to leave it and deal with indemnity insurance later on. It’s just been done!

I absolutely love shutters! I have them as an option at Js house when I sell up and move in…

Your house is looking gorgeous, Nine!

BIG PHEW.

The builder and his decorator are here. The decorator advised the entire kitchen needs repainting so it will all be done properly.

Also the builder is sorting out the building control permission for the window at his expense. The inspector had already seen it and has photos of it in progress so can create a new certificate for it.

Crikey, Nine! I’m pleased for you but honestly, where do some of these people get off, trying to palm you off with substandard work and excuses?!

I hope this hasn’t tainted your lovely new home for you 😊

That’s a relief on the painter and the window.

Your shutters look so good

Honestly, the only trades I haven't had an issue with so far have been the carpet fitters* and the shutter company. My builder's been great overall but he's always so defensive when I raise an issue, before looking into it and admitting I was right. The denial about the window not being signed off was ridiculous.

* I actually emailed them yesterday thanking them for such impressive service.

Oh well done. Both for getting it sorted and for not going on a murderous rampage beforehand.

I don't know why people do shoddy work then get upset when someone points it out!! Well done for standing your ground.

Your shutters look fabulous... we will need a full tour once you are all settled and unpacked :))

I know! All they have to do is admit it, apologise and fix it. Or check their own work in the first place rather than hoping I wouldn’t notice or will be too timid to flag it.

Photos coming next week hopefully!

It probably doesn’t help that I have a job that involves a high level of attention to detail and having to spot tiny errors.

Not that failing to meet building regs is a tiny error 🫣

I think Beatrix is right about most people (in general, and most men for sure) not being very good at their jobs. The bar is very low.

Yes, I agree. It’s very annoying :))

I agree with Beatrix too. I sometimes wish I could be like that as these people seem to be so happy & oblivious.

Having just spent the afternoon chasing other people and correcting / finishing off their sloppy work (both sets of people - men!) I also agree. It is infuriating!
