Zoomer, as you know, we have big dogs too. Including Pyrenean Mountain Dogs (Polar Bear Dogs). Our previous PBD was 14 when she died and lived a happy life on the Olive Farm in Provence. Current PBD is a real character and is happy and healthy. Like Est, our dogs have access to shade and they're nae daft, they don't go sunbathing in the midday sun. When it's hot, hot, hot, they dig a wee well in the earth and settle down there. Otherwise they're mostly to be found under a tractor, in the shade. Obviously they have acces to water too, and aircon when it hits 40+.
The PBD would love to be outside all the time, and has to be encouraged to come inside.
The GSD* doesn't like wind, nor rain nor the cold and wants inside. She's never complained about the heat, and just finds a quiet, calm, and cool place to snooze. She's an Old Lady now and apart from going a bit deaf and I supect her eyesight is not as good as it was, she's a healthy and happy GSD.
*she a fake GSD, she's a very GSD mongrel but her ears don"t stay up :crazy:
