I've been quietly a bit worried about Foggy, since we got back from our last UK visit, at the beginning of September. He had completely lost interest in his bed on top of the wardrobe. He just didn't seem to want to jump up there. (It's not a huge height, as there's a desk, strategically located at one end.) They used to love being up high. It was their special safe place, so I found it a bit sad that Foggy no longer wanted to use his bed. I thought he might have a touch of arthritis or something. I was just considering moving his bed to somewhere more accessible when, yesterday, he surprised us by jumping up and swapping beds with Tiggy. I was so glad to see him back up there, I did a little cry.

It felt almost cruel to have to get them both down from their nests to load them into the car today. Poor boys, they were very sick on the ferry. Though I dare say they'll suddenly perk up and demand food as soon as we get to the hotel... And then again, several times during the night.

Anyway, here they are - Foggy buried deep in his bed, and Tiggy only barely visible - on top of the wardrobe, this morning.

S is midway through building Tabitha steps so it's easier for her to get to her outdoor bed, it's so sad when they get older and seem less keen to jump up places. I'd have cried too, OTH.

Aw, it’s always sad when we realise pets are getting older, lovely Foggy.

Archie is here, it’s going really well so far - he’s a really good boy but also a huge bundle of puppy trouble. Straight after this hastily grabbed photo he pounced on my phone and tried to eat it.

As you can see in the background my house is already complete carnage!

This is my sister’s old girl, Sen. She’s probably about 10 and one of the blackest things in the known universe. This photo hides her comically short legs and chunky tummy She gets a bit neglected with the kids around these days so she stuck to me like glue as I’d give her a good scratch. Sadly she also set off my asthma, but she’s very sweet.

He’s a Springador, so springer spaniel, Labrador cross. His mum is a black lab, and his dad is the springer. I think he looks more like a Labrador, but he’s got his dads colouring of chocolate brown, plus a tiny white chest patch.

Sen is gorgeous, I love a black cat. We have segregated the house so Archie can’t go upstairs, but of a stress juggling them all at the moment but so far so good.

I also have half a springer (but the other half is a poodle) and they are very bouncy but utterly loving and adorable. Also, nosy and busy.
