OMG, 20!! Happy birthday Ziggy!
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just fuck off and leave me alone.

Is he twenty??!
No, it’s a salted caramel one from the Co-op. But when you’re 20 (or 96 in cat years), a little naughty treat is definitely called for.

I think you can do as you please when you're 96!

The birthday boy is a hard act to follow but I finally got some photos of the guineas.

Queenie getting used to her weighing tub (bribed with carrots)

Yes, Berty did choose that hoodie as it coordinates with Olive (who she is training to sit like a parrot, apparently)

Olga finally eating from J's hand :hbeat: He's been at school so has spent less time socialising Olga, and was feeling a bit sad she didn't know him as well as the other two know Berty and TD, so this was a big moment.

That’s so interesting, because they can’t really taste sweet things. How much did he eat?

Queenie is already my favourite, I don’t know why.

Only a little lick of the icing because I didn’t want to waste it! He loves ice cream, cheddar and sweet things (used to mug me for a Bourbon biscuit). But he’s also partial to whatever we’re eating including roast dinners, burgers, chicken curry and the occasional skinny chip.

I've just realised I posted the same photos on Instagram and FB (I knew about Instagram). Sorry for spam! Queenie takes some winning over, so I am not surprised you, as a lover of aloof cats, are taken with her Ella :)) Did you know guinea pigs purr? And like their heads scritched in all the places cats do?

Ziggy fully believes he's human so I am not surprised by his choices. I wonder if they pick up on what constitute treats to their family? Min would also do anything for cheddar too, mind.

The guinea pigs

One of mine liked musicals and would chirp along to them. The Sound of Music was his favourite.

I can’t believe Ziggy is 20!

Aw, Ziggy. I think he is the last one of our 'original' cats isn't he? My Ginger and Rocky, BEL's Murphy and Teddy, Buster and loads more.

He's looking very well for 96, and yes he should get whatever he fancies now.

Thanks, chaps. He definitely old and has been with me longer than the husband and children. He’s doing pretty well. Blood tests this week said that his hyperthyroid is a tad high but not high enough to adjust his meds, his kidneys are struggling (but you can’t have a happy thyroid AND happy kidneys apparently) which has been the case for a while but his liver function and iron levels were good. He’s very skinny and has given me a scare a few times when he wouldn’t wake up easily. I know there’s not long left really but I’ve been thinking that for several years! He still likes to wander in the garden (and over the back) and can jump up about a metre to places he shouldn’t be. He delights the children by choosing to sit on their laps sometimes (but only if I’m not available) :))
