Good luck Skips. I also have an interview tomorrow which I am super torn about. For a permanent job at the same company I currently work at but in a completely different space, with completely different people and systems. I adore my current team however but I utterly hate the contracting now, the recent law changes have been really difficult to deal with and the pay cuts have been tough.

Good luck with your interview Skips!

In my never ending job saga, I am finishing up with my project at the end of this month and going to a newly created for me role back in IT. I don’t even have a job title yet, but have a vague idea of what they want me to do (and am meeting with the Director I’ll report to this morning for a chat about it over coffee).

How do you feel about it Est? It sounds quite flattering to have a role created for you.

I’m quite excited. The project I’ve been on has been high stress, particularly since the start of this year, so stepping out of that will be a relief. I do suspect there is an element of “from the frying pan to the fire” but we shall see. It’s also only been signed off for 3 months at this stage so I’ll have to scope out that side of it. They’ve been really keen to get me back and doing something I want to work on, to the point that going back to the role I actually own has never been on the cards at all.

That does sound great. Fingers crossed it's lower stress and they can make it last longer.

I’m proper excited about this now. I met with my boss and another person I’m going to be working closely with and she seems great. She’s also pregnant and the plan is for me to shadow her and take over some of the things in her space too as a development opportunity (she’s working on the people change side of things). It really sounds like I can really shape the role into something pretty interesting (and longer term).

That sounds exciting Est, and Cos I think it's worth considering a more permanent role.

I think the phone interview/chat went well although it was very quick (15 minutes), they will be drawing up a shortlist of second round, face to face candidates the beginning of next week so we'll see what happens.

My interview went really well, the interviewers were really good, seemed like they would be great colleagues. I also have an informal chat with someone on Monday about a role at a slightly higher grade.

If I was offered the role, I think I would be concerned about taking it as its the same grade I'm at now and I'm not remotely stretched. But it's a permanent job with a good salary and benefits.

Have you heard anything Skips?

How did your informal chat go Cosmo?

I signed a new JD yesterday that is 'Project Manager' and covers a variety of things I might get involved depending on business need. I now officially report to J, who discussed objectives with me yesterday, but work for C on bid-related projets at the moment. No salary change, but that's fine as the JD I signed says home based (rather than Swindon).

That sounds positive, wendy. I find the line management there confusing; is that an improvement for you?
