There is a long way to go yet but I think there is a good case for me to stay in the role. This thread has been so helpful in giving me the courage to actually speak up for what I want in my career path. I've also asked about promotion opportunities well and been told I am very close to meeting the standards for this too . So really massive thanks to you all!

That’s great Wiggle. They kept you waiting long enough to start, didn’t they?

I’ve just heard that my job description has been reevaluated and regraded, and it’s good news.

Ooh, does that mean a pay rise, Pip? (I’m not asking for specifics.)

Pip, yes you are right about the wait due to back filling my role.
That is an excellent result! Enjoy some of the pay rise for yourself!

Well done Pip!

I’ve had my interview. I honestly think it went as well as it could and if I don’t get it, it’s because I’m not the right fit for the role. I’m such a loser as I loved the practical example they made me work through. It was totally my happy place :l: They said they are looking to finalise the process by the end of the month which seems like ages away.

That sounds really positive, Est! Apart from the long wait to find out.

Fingers crossed, Est! The long wait sounds familiar, it's like that in my place too.

Yep. It’s standard in government here. So I’m used to it. Now I need to forget about it for now and deal with the two (2) recruitment processes I need to run in my team over the next month :(

Sounds positive, Est. One of the nice things about teaching is that you tend to find out the same day if you got the job!

I have applied for a tiny job. It’s only seven hours a week so basically a day but you have to divide it into at least three sessions over a week. It’s admin and coordinating volunteers for a charity so basically PTA but you get paid. Shortlisting is Sunday. If I get it, I have to be self-employed and then submit hours to a 3rd party. Being self-employed will give me the nudge to make my tutoring more formal and wider.

In what appears to be a positive sign, the panel chair has reached out and asked for my referee contact details. So I had to fess up at work. Not to my current director as she’s only been my line manager for a month, but my previous Director who still works in the same area as me. I asked him to keep it confidential…

Well, I've just shut my laptop after my last day at the company for 12.5 years. It feels very odd.

Gardening leave for a few months (living the dream!) and having a good long think about what I want to do next as I genuinely have no idea.

I haven’t posted much recently and had no idea you were leaving your job, Derek!

Are you thinking of a complete direction change?
