What Ella said. Hope you're okay.

It's exciting though too. I'm glad you're giving yourself some time to think. I sort of regret jumping back into the same type of role when we relocated - particularly it was a chance to start over I didn't take.

I don't think I'd mentioned anything yet olive - thanks guys, I'm OK. It had been coming for quite a while now, and both parties decided it would be best to part now, whilst still friends (which we are! I've been there since start up days after all).

So...sad but also relieved as its been SO stressful for ages now.

Glad you're ok, and that you have gardening leave to take the pressure off for a bit. I hope a fantastic new opportunity is around the corner.

As others have said enjoy the enforced leave. Relish it, relax and enjoy the no deadlines/targets and take some time to think about next steps.

While I’m waiting to hear the outcome of my interview last week another role has come up that I’m going to apply for in the Brisbane 2032 Olympics Taskforce.

Wow, Del! What a change. You thoroughly deserve some time out though. I'm excited to see what you're going to do next but also pleased that you are having a break before launching into something new.

Good luck, Est - that sounds a fantastic opportunity.

I put an application in for the Olympics role today. It doesn’t close until 23 Nov. So not sure how to proceed if I get the one I interviewed for last week. The one last week contacted my first referee by telephone on Thursday (and she told me exactly what she said so it was a good reference) but they haven’t contacted my second one. My worry is they have deemed me meritorious in the process but they have a different preferred candidate. My paranoia (and increasing disillusionment in my current role) is high.

It could be that the first reference was fine so they felt no need to ask for the second one. It's impossible to say.

I think (given what you've said) you should accept this role if you're offered it, and worry about the Olympics one if and when it becomes a problem. If you're also offered that one, then there's nothing saying you can't accept it. These things happen all the time. Good luck!

Thanks both. That concretes a plan of action in my head. They’re both super interesting roles so either would be amazing.
