Ah I see, that’s good then if theres no change of manager.

HR rang me this morning (she felt bad she’d not had chance yesterday!) to officially offer me the role and she’ll email it over today. They’ll let me start with the lower level of clearance so it should be some point in March.

I did comment on it being a Saturday but got the impression it was genuinely that she’d wanted to let me know yesterday but didn’t get chance, and didn’t want to leave it until Monday. I also know from meeting her and speaking to the agent that she likes a good chat, and I can imagine she’s the sort of person who doesn’t get through her to-do list every day.

Oh that's good news, WeJa.

Downside of mine is that I'll be interviewed by my current manager, so it makes it a little harder to over-exaggerate achievements/responsibility

Super news all round on this thread! I also started a new job in January. :)) I'm working at an actual proper accountants and have to go back to studying exams and learning stuff, my poor brain. Also everyone I work with (except the bosses) is 20 years younger than me. But it's something I've got to try and have a good go at before I get too old for change.

Really good luck to everyone with interviews coming up, it seems like it is the year for Turtles!

My interview is next Thursday :panic:

I had a catch up with my manager yesterday and she said that she had A LOT of interest in the role, and I'm the only person* they are interviewing that isn't already at the grade I'm applying for. So basically, the other 5/6 people she's interviewing are already at that grade and are looking to side-step :verm: There'll be two interviews too.

So, I think there's definitely more of a challenge than I thought (and it was going to be quite a challenge anyway) but I am remaining positive, and I know what I need to concentrate on prep wise (she's said the focus will be on leadership capability).

I'm hoping that I've still got a chance regardless, as I think my manager has unrealistic expectations in terms of what she expects people at that grade to be doing/responsible for, and I'd suggest most of the people she'd be interviewing are probably doing a similar role to what I do now anyway. Also the JD makes it sound simpler than what it is, so it might have looked like a cushy opportunity but I know the truth

*In positive news, my useless but arrogant colleague applied and obviously didn't get an interview  He's currently pretending he hasn't heard back yet as they allowed him to submit a late application, but obviously I know the truth :))

Did he time that so he can imply he only applied due to pressure from colleagues?

Good luck.

Oh, no one was pressuring him to apply, and (I secretly know that) our manager told him at Christmas he wasn't ready to/shouldn't apply at the moment. But what he then broadcasts to the rest of us is completely different :)) (e.g. how he is really unofficial second in command, he is our bosses natural successor, etc, etc)

So I've been chuckling at him saying he's still waiting for a response because I know he hasn't got an interview, and he obviously does too. He doesn't even know I've applied so hopefully he'll enjoy finding out I've got an interview

Good luck Pov, and well done Kiwi! Glad yours is all coming together Wendy, it really won’t be long.

I did apply for the role I mentioned previously, and have been shortlisted for an interview on Friday. I don’t think I’ve had a proper job interview for over 20 years. :nerves:

Some of the role is definitely outside my experience, as it’s third sector, but I’m going to channel my inner mediocre white man, so I’m sure I’ll be fine.

Good luck Hobbes!

My interview is this morning. Naturally Tupac managed to have a nose bleed in the night alongside a terrible hacking cough and would only settle if I held his hand, and would wake every time I had just crept out of the room :ruby: IT’S LIKE THEY KNOW  A offered to take over but I can’t sleep knowing other people are awake (my own twatty problem) so I didn’t really see the point. I have burnt my hand on my new hairdryer and have had to eeeeeek the final drops out of my foundation as despite ordering a replacement it’s taking 8 years to come in the lost :ella: so basically I am fresh on

Anyway, I’ve done a small amount of prep but I’ve left a gap in my diary an hour before my interview so I will cram then :lastminute:
