Good luck!
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just fuck off and leave me alone.

Good luck Skips!
I'm so pleased that you will be able to return home Epp. How long have you been away for? It seems like a very long time. A decade?

If your back's against the wall, turn around and write on it.

Thank you everyone. I think it went well but I also think I may have waffled too much. I should hear by the end of the week though.

Re: Time For A Change
So they didn't offer me the position I went for but they've asked me back to interview with the top boss for another role - part office manager/Central services/PA role. I was saying a few weeks back to my counsellor I just bounce from bottom level position to bottom level position and never climb the ladder so maybe this is my chance..
However, I feel this would be a massive leap and I'd be out of my depth. I'm seeing my counsellor again the day before so I'll talk it through with her.
I'm excited and petrified

Skips, I say nothing ventured nothing gained! What's the worst thing to happen? Being excited and petrified are very good signs.
It's very encouraging that they want to interview you for this role!

Re: Time For A Change
The worst that happens is nothing else happens. They said they think I have too much experience for the other role so I wasn't going to get it, I'd be in the same position I'm in now which is continue applying.
It's not a role they are advertising/currently exists so I'm definitely taking it as a positive, they saw something that could have potential maybe? I just need to be able to fake it/ sell my skills to show how I could do what they need. Downside is there is no job spec so it'll be in the moment and I won't be able to prepare properly.

I'd prep some examples of your organisation, priority management, multitasking skills and relationship building for that kind of role. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and it should definitely give you some confidence that they spotted your potential and asked you to interview for it.
Best of luck!

Yes, they definitely spotted something. Believe in yourself, they seem to believe in you.

Skips- are you able to step out of the situation and pretend this is happening to a friend and how you would address them? Because I’m sure you’d be echoing to your friend exactly what we are saying to you.

Skips you definitely showed potential for the role - so grab the opportunity with both hands - enjoy and fingers doubly crossed!

I'll try this, but my self esteem/feelings of failure are what my counselling is focused on so it's easier said than done.
That said, the list Derek has suggested is definitely something I can show tonnes of experience for, so I'll go prepped with things along those lines. Plus, I'm a big fan of faking it till I make it, say things with enough confidence and people will believe you (within reason of course).
I am excited, it's just the unknown and never having been in this situation before. I definitely undersell myself a lot when I probably shouldn't also but I'm working on that.
