Well done!
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just fuck off and leave me alone.

Thanks guys :) I genuinely didn’t expect to get it, so was quite taken aback with the news.

Congratulations Est! You seem to always be changing roles, and it makes me feel very stuck when I realise how comfortable my velvet lined rut is. :))

Ha, yes Pip. I’ve done a bit of manoeuvring over the past 5 years to climb a bit. I’ve only been in my current role for 9 months. This will be position #5 since Nov 2019.

Wow, congratulations Est! Very exciting step up for you!

Like Pip, I am now wondering about my own velvet-lined rut, although I am rather fond of it!

I hope you don’t think I was being snidey, I didn’t mean it to sound like that! I think I just wish I worked somewhere with a bit more mobility to do different things with my skills.

I am slightly terrified about what I have gotten myself into though. It’s totally out of my comfort zone and a big jump up :bob:
This is utterly fabulous news! Well done boss!

This is incredible to read, truly. Especially as someone who was effectively in the same role for a decade! Massive congratulations on the new role and step up!

I think moving up often requires moving on, which is something I have learnt/ observed.

I"m also in awe of the job changes as I've been in my current role for 8 years & at the same company for 13

I think it's really hard to move on after being in one place for so long. I feel stuck where I am even though I could really do with a change.

I think because 3 of the roles were within the same govt department and this new one is in my immediate business area, it doesn’t feel so much like change. But I get it. I’ve also done a couple of lateral moves which I think helped.
