So I am STILL waiting for my secondment to start. Basically they are waiting to find resource for my current role. It seems to be taking a ridiculous length of time to sort out.
I've pushed and they keep saying be patient but I need to plan and I am being pulled in too many directions.

That is so frustrating Wiggle. It is very hard to recruit people right now though - is the cover for your current role being sourced from outside the organisation?

I think they are trying both routes and I know as a department we are expanding. I have a feeling there has been some stalling and now the application is stuck somewhere in the process.
It's more annoying when I know someone else's secondment has been fully sorted out.

So I've finally heard what's happening with my role but it's only a short term answer. At the moment I'm getting extra money to act up but without the job title. The extra money is continuing for another six months but I'll have the job title with 'interim' before it. I'm happyish about it. I'd like it to be permanent but there's still too many uncertainties with budgets and team structures at the moment. Hopefully in the autumn. I'd have to apply for it with both internal and external applicants if it was made a permanent position because it's public sector.

Thanks for all your support.

I’m glad you’re happyish, and that they’re giving you the recognition in the job title.

Well done, Purps! I think it’s a bit tight of them, but I know processes have to be followed.

Thanks! The important bit as well is that my terrible manager has now left and I'm basically in charge of the team now. He was impressively managing to both micro-manage and ignore us all. I'm now properly at the level he was an managing the team and planning how we work. Previously, I was managing half his direct reports because he wasn't coping but he was obstructing me at every turn.

That sounds like a huge improvement for you.

I had a chat with someone yesterday who for some reason wants to help me find something else/navigate through a bit of a rut. In the chat we basically realised I’m mostly motivated by recognition of my skill/ability.

That sounds promising, Pip. Being recognised and appreciated is so important.

That’s good news, Purps, I hope it leads to a permanent change for you. It sounds like you deserve it!

I’ve had a pay rise back dated to 1st Jan (because it’s taken that long to be approved!) and a change in job title. My job isn’t changing but my boss says it’s just to recognise everything I do and my workload has increased over the last year. The job title is so cringe though but the money is nice  My useless colleague has become my official minion so that’s something to put on the cv at least.

I'm glad you have heard something at last purps!

Congrats Lola (are you going to get a little treat with the back-dated pay?) and that does sound positive Pip.

S is doing an online interview today where no live people are involved!

How does that work, Emma? Is he being interviewed by robots?

That sounds like a really weird interview!

I’m not sure why lovely G is helping me, but I adore her & want to do well for her now!
