Congratulations all, really exciting news here.

I’ve worked for a couple of companies who were transitioning from small start up to mid size and it was always a massive clusterfuck in case you needed another reason Nine :))

Sounds like you’ve made the right choice, nine, taking everything into account.

Having taken on a brand new, very vague role in my last job , I think an organisation that is clear about what they want from you, and how to meet your development needs, is very important.

Job 2 sounds like a sensible choice.

Yes, clarity of role is super important. My last one I was doing for the past 6 months had been super vague and coupled with my lack of subject matter knowledge made it tough.

I have just accepted the second job offer. FTC for three days a week for the five weeks from 23rd Nov to 23rd Dec; permanent four days a week from 4th Jan. :panic:

I am a heady mix of excited and terrified. I haven't been stretched in a work role for a long time and they keep referring to me as an "expert" which is a bit alarming.

Best of luck, nine! Never forget, there will be loads of things you know far more about than they do - they don’t have your experience, after all. (it’s really easy to undervalue everything you have learned in your past roles!).

All of this. I'm in a similar boat, having been bought in as an expert in my field, and I keep having to remind myself to present myself in this way, each time I meet someone new*. Congrats and good luck!

*it sounds a bit arrogant but I'm thinking of it as easy shorthand for the thing I want them to remember about me/ use to contextualise what I do, which makes things easier for everyone.

First day tomorrow: a new chapter. Hopefully. I have lots of meetings in the diary - it's a new role for them too, so we'll be working together to work out what I actually do

I am nervous.
