There's a brand new hotel, The Dakota, near Piccadilly. Or the Malmaison, Holiday Inn, Double Tree and Motel One.

I love the look of your two NQ hotels, Beena, but I'd read reviews about noise. Anything on the main drag might have lots of noisy passing crowds at the weekend and some of the beautiful warehouse buildings aren't very soundproof (single glazed windows a particular issue) as they're listed buildings (used to live in one and know this well!)

I will not be doing a pub crawl there

I am struggling to find anything under £100 per night tbh, I don't know if I'm being unrealistic but that seems a bit steep to me.

There's a few apart hotels.

Have you looked at the Travel Lodge on Great Ancoats Street? I stayed there once for three weeks (long story) and it was basic but fine.

I'll check all these out, thank you. The Dakota looked great but was 225 a night!

Prices have shot up in the last couple of years. Hotels that used to be just under the £100 are £200-250 a night. We once stayed in the Holiday Inn in Stockport as it's next to the station and a direct train into the city centre. It was a fraction of the price and as quick as walking across town.

There's a Premier Inn at the backend of Spinningfields that used to be far cheaper than the others as it's classed as Salford, but it's probably closer to the centre than the one classed as central Manchester. People might have cottoned on to that now though.

I think if you want under £100, then you're going to be looking at travelodges and Prem Inns. Especially if it's at a weekend during the football season.

I would spend a bit more but J thinks its madness, so I reckon we'll just go for a Premier Inn.

You can't go wrong with a Premier to be fair.

I'm fine with a PI, it would have been nice to get a better hotel but not at 250 a night!

I will book it soon as J keeps finding "bargain" hotels near the venue which I'm gathering is not the chi chi part of town

The Ibis on Princess Street is not particularly good, thin walls, doors that close with a bang, pod style bathroom that were not that well cleaned and a lot of street noise too.

It might be better to stay somewhere better, like Liverpool?

SO many hotels have these days - even some expensive ones. They always mutter something about fire doors. It really pisses me off and the slamming often wakes me up as people come and go from their rooms.

We've booked the Premier Inn, Piccadilly

Bumping this to ask for restaurant recs! We realised that the weekend is close to our anniversary so apart from the obvious treat of a gig in a pub in a shady part of Manchester ( #blessed #spoiled), we will have a nice meal on the Saturday night.

Any suggestions of good restaurants near our hotel?

I had the best burger ever at Almost Famous the other week.

Rudi's for the best pizza EVER.

Red True Barbecue was awesome when we were there for The Meet. Hardly a romantic meal for two, but the food was bloody ace.
