Oh that’s interesting, I’m due a refund from BA as I should have been in St Tropez this weekend  I shall get onto them.

If you can’t get through, try the thing I did, which is keep pressing * at the first menu option :)). Sorry about your missed trip.

You can check your refund status on their website, Ella. Virgin are one of the slowest airlines to refund at the moment, quoting 4-6 months processing times to agents!

I know, there's no progress. We're expecting something possibly at the beginning of August based on what they quoted us a couple of months ago. I don't mind waiting as long as we're in the system. I'm impressed with BA though.

I don’t know if this applies to everybody or just us, but we had an email from Virgin last night saying they’d try to refund us within 40 days. I’m ok for now, but somebody who’d just lost their job and needed the money would be a bit less able to wait, no?

I think trying within 40days is crap, and very poor in relation to BA. but I guess the financial hardships that might have developed for people since they booked also aren't Virgin's problem... but it speaks volumes that they don't seem to want to chose to care. IYSWIM.

There's a piece on the BBC website about a family waiting for £7k back for a holiday to DisneyWorld and what a toll it's taking on them.

I am still really disappointed with how my company dealt with refund requests, initially. They have finally got a clear policy in place nearly three months in (still fairly unfavourable for a lot of customers) but are still making people lodge formal complaints to escalate their refund requests - they aren’t being decent upfront. And of course it is us agents that have to communicate this and get the torrent of abuse. I am so glad to be on furlough.

In happier news I just got a full refund for our EasyJet flights in March. The outbound did fly, but the return was cancelled. I am glad they refunded both sectors, as technically they didn’t have to.

Good news, Dande! I’m sorry for all the abuse you and your colleagues got, though.

That's a rubbish way to treat both customers and staff.

I think 40 days might be a new industry standard as I've had that from another place.

IME, even 40 days is optimistic. Airlines are beyond slow at the moment.

This is 40 days after the nearly three months it’s taken so far.

We're still waiting for our Virgin refunds as well - although we booked through a third party agent so it's going through them. And they are charging us £50 for the privilege of getting our money back for a flight we couldn't take :ella: I'm pretty sure that's not legal, but prepared to suck it up right now just to get anything back without a long drawn out fight.

That’s for the BA tip, Ella. I just rang and pressed ***** and got straight through, they were super helpful and said refund will be in my account in 2-8 days.

If only they weren't trying to shit on their staff, they'd really be doing well.

I had a terrible experience last year getting compensation from them for majorly delayed flights (which cut our already 6 day holiday short by a day really, and meant Tupac having to stay up until 1am, and it took him half the holiday to recover), I think it took over 4 months, and they tried to offer me less and fob me off re. the flight distance, so I wasn’t holding out a lot of hope.
