Yes, your phone GPS works without a data signal. I use cachly, it’s a third party app. I probably wouldn’t bother if I was starting now but when they first retired the old official app and brought in the current one it was awful.

Today we attempted a circuit of 37 caches. I mapped it out on Strava in advance and came up with 9km but we chopped a section out due to A’s slow pace and still did 10.6km. Interesting caches, the best was a pulley on a tree which let down a ceramic frog on a swing containing the cache. I haven’t logged them all yet but I think it was 27 finds and 1 DNF.

Geocachers are nice people. I’ve had it on my Watchlist since it started out and noticed it getting closer. Then I spotted someone picked it up and messaged to ask if there was any chance it could head towards Surrey. He said he wasn’t coming this way but he’d take it to the next meet and see if someone would take it. There was a meet last night and a cacher whose name I see a lot around here took it so I messaged him and explained. Turns out he lives two miles away from me so he took it to one of his cache sites that I had a DNF on, sent me a picture of his bike leaning against the right tree and we went for an family evening walk to collect it. :))

Geocachers will go above and beyond to accomplish a mission it’s true :)) Ruby’s TB almost got close enough for me but then got taken off to Scotland.

Maybe Bats could change the mission on hers to get to me, and then send back to Ruby. A turtle Geocaching tour would be cool.

True! Bats has long forgotten the Tupperware, I fear. Is she like the Candyman? Say her name three times and she’ll appear?

On another note, do you know who scarywebby is? Is it someone from here? Or used to be.

Scarywebby? Means nothing to me, is that their Geocaching username?

We could try shouting 3 times but I think a PM might be more efficient.

Yes. They’re in my friends list and active but I don’t know who it is.

We got so wet today that we ended up abandoning our trail which was a shame because the kids were proud of solving the puzzles for the coordinates. We couldn’t have got any wetter but we were getting cold and have a fair drive home.

At one point we kind of all stopped and looked at each other just not knowing what to say! I was ill-prepared with a “shower proof” coat.

It sounds like the outing we went on in March with 2 sets of friends. One was completely unprepared with a 4 year old who doesn’t like to walk unless round a golf course. At one point we were walking backwards due to head on driving rain. 22 finds though :))
