Geocaching

Incorporating hobbies, computer games, Verm's Interesting Links and anything else you can think of excluding football and other spectator sports because these belong in the Sport section, but allowing sports you play yourself with your own body as that counts as a pastime.

Ah no, it’s more of a cache and dash for another day.

In a moment of quiet today, I was browsing the FB group and learnt that you can change the waypoint for a puzzle cache and it moves the blue ? symbol at the listed co-ords to a puzzle piece icon where the cache is hidden. You probably already know this but it makes me happy nonetheless!

I collected a different puzzle cache today and two quick cache and dash ones. The boys have declared that they don’t like the latter kind as they don’t get to romp in the forest and wave sticks.

Yes, if you change the coordinates on the cache page it moves it on the website and the app. Then when you find it it puts it back so as not to muck up any geoart.

I just dashed out for a FTF on a puzzle. :l:

It was a good puzzle, seemed a shame to wait.

No, our best day so far was 27. Actually we’re aiming for 23 tomorrow as I’m still mystified by the puzzle which would have been the 24th.

I’m really not that good at puzzles, on the whole. I probably could be if I tried harder.

This one is based on Dr Who. I’m not a fan so I don’t recognise the characters and I’m not sure what I’d do with them if I did.

It was a long one today. I think we found 18 out of 23 in the end (haven’t logged them yet) but it wasn’t the best thought out circuit. Paths were badly marked and at one point we had to go off piste through a huge field of oil seed rape and walked a massive way round as there was no official footpath so we just had to follow tractor tracks. There were a couple of interesting ones though and the weather was brilliant.

I think the field would have finished Mr Sax off with hayfever! Did it get you over 700 though?

Funnily enough it didn’t make me sneeze at all and my hayfever’s been terrible this week. If I haven’t miscounted we’ve just squeaked over 700. :disco:

Hello.

I'm going to give this a try whilst I'm unable to run very much. Is there a particular app you use?

I use the official Geocaching one. You have to pay an annual subscription to get access to all geocaches but you can do some without it.

If you’ve got an android phone try c:geo. I’ve not used it (I’m on iPhone) but it’s well rated, free and gives you access to all the non premium caches.

If you were given the clue “ground level, Thames Water would like this cache”, what would you look for?
