Your wish is my command!

Quilt top done ready for quilting and binding.

I could not get a picture without the cat. I turfed him off after the first picture and tried to distract him with a treat, but he came running back!

Wow, that's incredible! So much detail and I'm sure the tessellation was a big puzzle. It is lovely that the cat loves it too!

That's impressive, rosy.
I will have a root about and find some pictures of the quilts that my friend's MIL makes, I think you'd like to see them.

I've finally managed to find my friend's MIL's quilts.
These ones have a sad back story : She made these ones from her son's shirts (my friend's husband) who died in a car accident 4 years ago. She made them for her grandaughters (his and E's gorgeous girls) who were only aged 7 and 8 when he died.

How sad, and how beautiful. I have a tear in my eye ...

I'm going to attempt my first quilt fairly shortly. I'm thinking of something with mischievous dachshund appliques, as a present for my mum's 90th birthday. It's got to be ready for 10th October. :? Something quite simple - a bit like Janet Clare's 'Cats' pattern:

What beautiful quilts, SM! She is very talented; how sad about her son/your friend's husband.

She really is very talented. And kind. And strong. She's buried her husband and her son. My friend took a while (years) before she was ready to give her the shirts, but now she's happy her girls have something to remember their Papa.

The shirts quilts are lovely and must be such a lovely tangible reminder for his daughters. I love the choice of the dark fabric in the blocks to give the illusion of depth in the first one.

But I keep going back to the windows ?aperçus (I can't quite read the words) quilt; it's so clever.

It says " Histoires entre aperçus" = Glimpses of stories. Evry window hints at a different event / story / something happening.

So clever yet heartbreaking!

I have just started a beginners sewing course. Yesterday I learnt how to thread my machine and sew together pieces of material. :)) . Next week is bunting so I’ve ordered some Christmas fabric. Week three is a tote bag and I’ve order fabric called “Knitting Cats”. :mog: The last week is a cushion cover and I’m hoping to repurpose an Ikea curtain.

I’ve had a lovely evening shortlisting fabrics. Like I need anything else to burn up my time!
