The Good Life (gardening chat)

Incorporating hobbies, computer games, Verm's Interesting Links and anything else you can think of excluding football and other spectator sports because these belong in the Sport section, but allowing sports you play yourself with your own body as that counts as a pastime.

So pretty!

My excitement is that I re-potted my tomatoes as they're coming on a treat and my yellow rattle is beginning to flower.

Have you put other wild flower seeds down, Duo? Or are you just doing the yellow rattle first?

Those are absolutely beautiful Wendy! And I am awed by Baa's sheer number of plants.

Thanks Shoe. They’re out of stock or in massive quantities everywhere I’ve looked so far, but I’ll keep checking. I’ve temporarily loosely drawn them in with twine and they look a bit better!

I have a massive bunch of things growing that I presume are from repeated attempts at wildflower growing in that patch. Or they’re massive weeds.

Wendy Agriframes does them in various shapes and sizes and has some in stock. I've ordered lots of things from them and they're really good (Bristol based too so local company)

I just cut the peonies that flopped! They’ve lasted about as long in vases as the ones still outside though so I don’t feel too guilty.

My Californian poppies are back! They are so cheery. They self seed every year against the wall of our house.
I love californian poppies. They self seed themselves all over the place here - I never know exactly where they'll pop up. :))

Does anyone know what this is. My mum planted it a few years ago and I love it. The pink flowers drop off in the evening and then there are a load of new ones in the morning. I do have a plant ID app thing, but thought I'd ask here first.

We put down some wildflowers but we haven't had much success. I think the yellow rattle has overwhelmed everything else.

My self seeding champions this year are the rose lychnis. Mostly in the gravel :ella: but too nice to pull up until they're done.

Hypericum is coming into flower

And the fatsia is looking massive again, after a big trim about a year ago.

It's opposite the dwarf rhodie which I have a love/hate relationship with as it doesn't always flower but this year we're good.

I've shown both of these before but I just loved the way they look in this photo

Gorgeous Rebs. I love the roses and fatsia!

Pawpads I am sure that's a cistus too.

Thank you for the Cistus identifying.

I have come to share the joy of my tree peony. I bought it just before lockdown, planted it and then Gemma the Dogbot sat on it and snapped the stem. A friend told me to leave it and see what happens and it seems to do be doing ok.

I'm so pleased.

Oh, I can't attach the photo. Just imagine it then. :))

It’s beautiful, Pawpads. :))

I’ve lost two tomato plants through planting them out. I think I might lose more. I’ve obviously done something wrong.
