Show your (craft)work

Incorporating hobbies, computer games, Verm's Interesting Links and anything else you can think of excluding football and other spectator sports because these belong in the Sport section, but allowing sports you play yourself with your own body as that counts as a pastime.

I have a long list of things I want to make, but it’ll keep for a while. I’m knitting an extremely basic blanket but it’s good to keep me occupied in the evenings.
Same, but with colour-changing wool so I feel it looks more impressive than it is!

Hadn't thought of cotton wool, wendy, I'll have a look and see what Wool Warehouse has, I :hbeat: that place. I would inevitably make a mistake in that pattern, but I feel confident you'll manage it. :))

That’s where I ordered from (again). The tick box to say no bag made me laugh, of course I want the storage bag!

Yarnsub.com is where I searched for alternatives.

I’ve been shopping from Deramores because they’re on Give As You Live which means our PTA gets cash from my yarn habit!

I've just finished my most recent blanket and it's all pinned out on foam mats in the spare room, waiting for me to have at it with some steam.

I'm not especially enthusiastic about doing more blankets so I will rummage through my books and patterns and kits etc and see if anything leaps out at me. I could go for artwork, knitting, tapestry, cross stitch or (simple) sewing - I don't have an overlocker which puts me off doing sewn garments. They are on sale at Aldi as a special buy at the moment but I don't think I'd know what to do with one if I bought it!

You can manage fine without one, but I wouldn’t give mine up now! I sew a lot with stretch fabrics though, so it really speeds things up doing it on one machine. I’m used to the neat edges on woven fabric now too. There’s lots of videos and advice online.

I've just had a look at the Aldi one, sucker for a gadget that I am.

It says 'an addition to your sewing machine'. Does this mean that you literally attach it to a sewing machine, or just that owning one will make your sewing machine even more useful?

I'm half (well, quarter) thinking of getting one for S.

It's a machine in its own right, I presume they just mean it's a next step from a standard sewing machine.

I wouldn’t be without my overlocker. I had a Lidl one (rebadged Singer) for a while but upgraded to a Janome one with more features.

I have made a couple of hot/cold packs to go in N’s birthday present, with removable covers. They are filled with jasmine rice which smells lovely, and is very malleable.
It’s like a normal midlife crisis only with more chandeliers and foreign languages.

Nice, rosy, I was wondering what you would put in them.

An overlocker is a lovely new tool, but you have to have a normal sewing machine too, so it's quite a lot of bulk / moving things around / dedicated space.

The house is brilliant, Beatrix! It fits the frame beautifully. I'm glad M likes it - even if she doesn't fully appreciate the work that went into it!

That house is excellent, Beatrix. I'm sure the girls will appreciate the work when they get older.

Here is Loki, looking very pleased with his latest cardigan  I doubt he will ever stop to think of the effort that went into making that ;)
