Show your (craft)work

Incorporating hobbies, computer games, Verm's Interesting Links and anything else you can think of excluding football and other spectator sports because these belong in the Sport section, but allowing sports you play yourself with your own body as that counts as a pastime.

So slow. Part of the issue is I don't have the pattern printed out so I'm having to write it out bit by bit as I go so it's right in front of me to check.

I think I'm getting there though, I have a vague neckline and shoulder decreases happening. :))

That sounds entirely positive! Can we have a work-in-progress shot? I really MUST finish some other projects and then I'll be following your lead.

As you can see I'm going for a subtle colour scheme. :))

Subtlety is overrated, innit. Love that! And I'll be able to ask you all my questions. :))

That's so simple but so effective! I love it.

I bought yarn. Some for my sweater and some just for stock.

I love that Cerise, it's really effective. That's such a cheery set of colours too, Shoe.

I have so much yarn already but I am fed up of making blankets and want to make a wearable. I'm toying with the idea of a jumper but I want to do it in a chunky yarn so that it's a quicker make and the yarn is out of stock for the patterns I like :(

You know that whatever you choose to make, you won’t have exactly the right colour, right?

I don't know if this is the right thread, but I'd like to pick your crafty brains, please.

M got a set of stacking coffee tins as a Christmas present, and they are now empty. Not one to discard a potentially handy receptacle, I would like to repurpose it, probably for knitting bits and bobs, but maybe to put things like cotton buds and 'things' in the bathroom, or some sort of foodstuffs in the kitchen.

Anyway, I quite like the overall pattern, but the brand labels on the front, and the instructions on the back are not removable, so I'd need to cover them in some way. Bearing in mind that I am quite cack-handed, does anyone have any good ideas for how to do this, and with what?

I briefly considered knitting fair isle 'socks', but this wouldn't work as the tins stack and the knitting would stop them from fitting inside one another. If I did 'sleeves' instead, they would be likely to fall down, and be a pain, so I've gone off that plan. Does anyone with more imagination than me have any ideas?

That's annoying

I don't know how well it would work, but I'd try putting chalkboard paint on the offending areas, which, if it works (hopefully someone else will know that!) would hide the text and allow you to label contents.

Ooh I like the chalkboard paint idea, especially if you can buy a tester-size pot to do it. I think it would work fine, you’d just need to use low-tack masking tape to cover areas you don’t want to paint and give a clean edge, then maybe key the surface slightly with a fine sandpaper before you paint it.
