Elephant's trews got finished on the road from Holyhead and the pom pom for his hat got finished on the way over to meet baby Aidan, this afternoon. I think he's pretty cute despite the obvious error in joining the different colours of his t-shirt.

Thanks, Kleio. It was a bit of a steep learning curve and the amount of counting, unpicking, and redoing, that went on, was untrue. But I think I'm now well and truly hooked. Next project will be a Star Wars character (or two) for one of R's grandsons.

I am working on my millionth jumper. You knit it side to side - well, middle to middle, really, and somehow seam it by knitting. You make it in two halves, with the top seam integral to the pieces.

I can't explain it very well, so here's a picture from the pattern. Mine is black, which seemed like a good idea, but is a massive pain to knit.

I have started making earrings from polymer clay. I don't wear earrings so I'm not really sure why I decided to start with those , but I do like making them, it's therapeutic.

I finally got back my finished pots from the wheel workshop this afternoon, fired and glazed by the instructor in finishes of her choice.

I'm back-tracking slightly on the Star Wars idea. I had thought of making a little set of amigurumi figures, but J is 12 in October and I think he's a bit too old for soft toys. Also, our generation's Star Wars heros aren't necessarily his. So, I thought I'd make a Mandalorian beanie hat and a baby Yoda. Not that I've ever seen The Mandalorian, as we don't have Disney ... but J has, and this is 'nan' trying to be cool.

I didn't realise how difficult it was going to be to find patterns. There are some great Baby Yodas around, but the best ones seem to be fully made-up toys on Etsy. Likewise Mandalorian helmets! The two best helmets I found in Ravelry were discontinued (probably due to Disney copyright issues), and the others look a bit daft, almost all are coloured red and green and have the slit for the eyes sitting on top of the head! Even so, I've found this Baby Yoda pattern, which looks quite cute: And, never letting inexperience get in the way of an idea, I'm going to have a stab at adapting this Greek Helmet pattern for the helmet: I think J might have to wait for at least part of his birthday present.
