One shoe! :mog: Jesus. I'd have cried and then given up. Fair play, 1hr 7is good anyway, but with one shoe on! WHat time did you start, TC? It was so beautiful and crisp this morning when I went running but SO fucking freezing and wet by the time we went back out on bikes later.

Cheers! I'm not sure that it was the brightest move though. :))

I'm not sure exactly but it was about quarter past ten I think. It was cold and wet for sure and that got worse as the race went on.

It was a nice course and would totally recommend having a go at it if they put on another event there.

Well done Mog, tough conditions and running with one shoe you absolute fucking idiot. :mog:

All headphones bar bone conducting ones are banned at any athletic association events that are on open roads, it just means that if they can't close the roads entirely you'll run the risk of being disqualified so I would tend to run with one earpiece in, making sure the side I presented to marshals and the road was the side without.

Most of the big events they cordon the roads off so it isn't a problem.

I ran the nationals (Scottish) and the course is always a nightmare. 4km hilly and it was freezing. I was so cold that after my warmup I was still freezing and was running like the Tin Man until I got 2km in got my breathing under control and began to enjoy it. Slower than last year but only by 40 secs approx so happy enough.

23:58 Garmin time, official time 23:56

I'll update the list tomorrow.

That sounds rough, Duo! Great time considering the hills!

The heavens have opened overnight here in time for our first XC of the year.

Finished in 100th out of 103 women  Much the same as my only other XC performance last year, apart from not (miraculously) being last in my club.

It was great fun though. The rain all night and this morning made for a muddy course, but the sun came out while we were running. A couple of steep banks and a water feature, but not too gruelling.

Another one next week, but after that they’re a bit more spaced out.

It was. Our club has made it a bit more interesting for us slowcoaches as well by putting us into mixed ability “teams” for an informal inter-club competition. We had 40 out from our club today!

That's a really good idea, as it goes, and must keep it more interesting for everybody.

40 is great too! Is your club affiliated, or not?

Ours did a 16 mile fancy dress run yesterday. With 8 pub stops along the way. :))

Yes, we are. Are you in an affiliated club? I do like being a registered “athlete” and being able to see my stats on Run Britain :))

I’ve edited the list to take Sunday’s XC off, as My hamstring is fairly dubious at the moment. I can run on it, but it’s consistently painful. This weekend’s race is quite hilly, so I’ve decided against it.

93rd out of (I think) 94 women  However, I’m very pleased to have finished it given my recent issues, and the one lady behind me was from my club so I wasn’t even last from the club :))

Really sticky course, mainly field edges. But not too many slippery bits. I did pinch my ankle a couple of times when the camber was a bit severe, but it feels ok now.

It was around 11s, but I’ll take it :))

I’m currently sat at home pretending there isn’t a bunch of muddy clothes & shoes that need dealing with :look:
