Testing times - Covid in 2022

That sounds so rough Tsu. I've definitely felt like that after flu, and I was pretty rough with covid and lost 10lbs in 11 days (naturally I loved that bit :ella: ) .

I hope you perk up sharpish but rest as much as you need.

I saw the GP last night. I didn't have an appointment but when the nurse who did my blood test saw me she asked the GP to see me.
I haven't lost a pound since the flu started but I'm completely bloated which a Google tells me can happen after a virus.
I got put of bed and had a shower and some lunch today but feel like I've eaten a full roast dinner.

I had the flu jab on the 22nd, the COVID booster on the 26th and fell ill on the 28th.

That happened to me when I got Covid, Tsu. Bad luck on the timing front.

A couple of days after my second jab I came down with it and it was absolutely brutal, I didn't move for a week and can't actually remember much about a lot of that. Shivers, couldn't eat, backache, couldn't talk, massive headaches and sore throat, complete exhaustion, you name it.

The only thing I remember with regard to help was that my chest wasn't rattling so I knew that I wouldn't die. It was absolute hell though.

It took me about eight months to be fully clear of everything afterwards and taking naps is now a part of life where it never was before. Hopefully it won't take you that long to recover but it sounds very familiar and has bought back some very grim memories.

I am glad that you seem to be getting over the worst of it though.

That sounds horrible, mog. I know this isn't COVID because I've done two negative tests but still..

Luna, the GP gave me an examination and confirmed that she thought it was flu and yes, that's just how flu is.

I feel better in my head but I'm so tired. I wake up in the morning tired. Plus, I have awful upper abdominal bloating. I have large liver cysts anyway but since this started it feels like someone has inflated them by 100% just under my lungs so I can't take a full breath.

I'm (coincidentally) seeing my renal consultant on Thursday so I hope she'll have some helpful input on all this.

Flu is absolutely horrendous. I still remember December 2010 when both C and I were floored with it.

This bout of covid has kicked my arse but I'd still much rather have this than actual flu and I genuinely mean that. Real flu is horrific in comparison.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Tsu. It might be worth calling your consultant on Monday to ask if it's reasonable to request a same day ultrasound ahead of your appointment to make sure all is well with the liver and breathing, etc.

I haven't had a proper scan for about 30 years. When I arrived in Exeter I asked for a scan as I was a new patient and was given an appointment for (and I quote) u/sound kidneys. This meant the ultrasound operator looked just at my kidneys and when I asked about my liver she said she couldn't see where my kidneys finished and my liver started.

I'm taking The Journalist in with me this time and depending on what she says, we'll pay for a private scan.

Unfortunately, as polycystic liver disease is so rare and doesn't usually affect your liver function, they tend to treat it as just another side effect of polycystic kidney disease.

Not only was I able to visit, I strolled in ( mask on, but down, to chat to her, as previously there was covid in another bay but not hers), until a nurse taking her blood pressure, casually mentioned that I might not want mask down as this whole bay, Inc my mum, tested positive for COVID this morning,!

My mum is so different, I feel like I am grieving for her. It's so sad.

I’m sorry Marth, that sounds so hard. And absolutely unacceptable to just casually mention in passing that everyone has the ‘vid! I would be fuming and would definitely lost my shit and got banned from visitation

It is very sad when they change so much.

My mum caught covid just after moving into the home and she wasn’t eating and could barely stay awake. At the time I was worried that it was the next stage of dementia caused by the move but actually it only lasted 24-48 hours and was very much the covid. Hopefully it will be similar for you.

So, I'm in hospital.
I had a text about my blood results last night asking my to go into my GP this morning. I literally had to drag myself down there (drove because the only one that can) and once there they took some observations and called an ambulance. The doctor couldn't believe I'd been able to drive to the surgery without collapsing.

I'm in a surgical assessment ward after having had a CT scan and am waiting for the doctors to assess.

Suffice it to say, I don't think it's the flu.
