Some more thoughts. Are they threatening to discharge her on the assumption that you can provide care? In other words, can she manage alone? If the answer to the former is yes and the the latter is no then you need to tell them there needs to be a care package in place before they discharge her. That you can't provide care.

No that's fine, it's a no to your first question rebs and yes to the second. She's said to me she'd like me around when she's sprung but as far as I know the hospital haven't even said anything about all that. They do know I'm here and that I'm vulnerable if I get covid so they were agreeing with mum that it was best for me to stay away.

Thank you all. I'm very glad it's not just me that doesn't know what to do in this situation. I was worried I was being a berk not having a clue, it's such a dilemma though. I desperately want to see her but ugh.

Today they've said they won't release her till 2 negative tests. But we're still confused as apparently despite the thing being now 5 days in isolation if you're positive, the hospital is sticking to 10 days. So fuck knows. I'll probably go home Tuesday as I'm neither use nor ornament here cos I can't even see her and we've still no idea when she'll be sprung.

It's everywhere - my brother had it last week and now my mum has it. I'm more worried than she is and insisting on hugging both her and my dad. I am never, ever losing the chance to hug anyone again.

How many people are going to buy these tests when they have to? £5 is a ton of money for so many of us.

I had to buy some last week to test J. They’re $50 for 5 here (if you’re low income you can get free tests though) Private pathology places now also charge for PCRs.

Thanks for the heads up, I had tried twice today to order but no dice so wasn't going to try again until tomorrow.

My red line has started fading today so I am hopeful of escape by Tuesday. The weird 'hot' smell that I had has gone too, that was odd.

My dad and my father in law both tested positive this week. I saw my dad a week last Friday and spent all afternoon with father in law a week on Saturday ago. Both feel like they have bad colds but my dad is outraged that he’s still testing positive this weekend as he has plans :ella: and now my mum is feeling unwell too.

I stayed out of the office all last week as a precaution but have tested negative so I’m going in to the office tomorrow as I need to do a welcome induction for a new member of staff. I’m just so worried about getting it and potentially infecting Mr P (who’s vulnerable) but most people seem to be really blasé about it now. It’s rife at work, we have had about 10 people in the office get it in the last fortnight. Fortunately my work is really good about people working from home if they want to.

How long are people finding the incubation period to be now?

S felt unwell on Thursday evening, sore head and then developed a temperature. An lft on Friday morning was negative, so we went for a PCR. He got a positive result, and I tested negative. He has been fine since Saturday, so ill for around 36 hours.

This morning, myself and Mr G got the faintest of lines, so we’re stuck in now too - we both have a sore throat. You could see S’s face light up when we told him we tested positive too.

I have N in the positive camp too. She woke in the early hours of Sunday quite wheezy and a high temperature. Tested positive on LFT on Sunday morning. Her temperature was up all yesterday and she has mostly slept until late this morning. She's perked up now though. I'm negative, so far :fc:

My mum might have covid now. The care home is currently under lockdown as they’ve had a few cases. She has a cough and slight temp and seems very sleepy. LFT was negative but they’ve done a PCR, :fc: for results back tomorrow.

Oh good lord. It’s like when your child starts nursery and they catch everything! Hope she’s ok. My M&D have just had it and got off surprisingly lightly for their age and health!

I have remained stubbornly negative throughout Mr R's covid journey. He's almost back to normal now.

I hope your mum is ok Tex. M's mum's care home is covered in Covid at the moment and they are enforcing a 10 day clear period throughout the home before they will reopen. I guess that might be some time in the summer then.

My red line is staying stubbornly very red, despite first showing over a week ago. I guess that's me wfh for the the remainder of the week but I'd really like to get back to the office on Monday :bored:
