The extra time does seem to have made a difference in Scotland. Way too many decisions for England/whole of the UK have been made based on politics and economics rather than saving lives.

Everyone might already be familiar with this but I wasn't, so in case....it's a really solid dataset of most data you might want to see.

Oof, extended lockdown in Leicester then, though I'm not clear on how large an area that actually covers.

So they’re locking down Leicester, but no one knows what that means yet. Do I go to work tomorrow as planned? It’s literally just inside the city boundary.

I was hoping you would know actual details! What a mess.

All I can see is that non-essential shops must close tomorrow, and schools will close (except for vulnerable/key worker children) from Thursday. Not very helpful!

I have an update from Friday saying there are 75 inpatients with COVID-19, which is pretty low. But the consultants have said anecdotally that patient numbers are going up.

Schools break up next Friday (10th) anyway.

How does that compare to the peak?

The peak was something like 250-300.
They’ve mentioned Oadby, Birstall & Glenfield. None of which are where I live, but I know people who do.

That's a lot less then but I guess it's the speed it's growing?

I think it’s based on positive tests rather than hospital admissions. They’ve said the number of cases there are three times higher than the next highest city.

Given the current mood of the nation I wonder how many people in Leicester will just test their eyes by driving to the next city to go shopping etc.

That was just mentioned, Goat, by a reporter on ITV news.

He didn't reference that well known test of eyesight! Just that people are likely to travel out of Leicester.

The main retail park (my previous place of worship) is outside the city boundary.
Coventry, Tamworth, Derby & Nottingham are all close enough to test eyesight.

Tamworth & Nottingham have castles and shops, so are ideal.

Someone on the Grimsby local paper website claims that people from Leicester " keep coming here for fish and chips". .
