Mine was approx 2 years of madness after the Mirena, also, Purp. They might settle soon, with any luck.

My period vanished last November and hasn't been seen since. It was going a bit funny before I had E but seemed to settle down after I had him. We moved house a year ago so I put my missing period down to stress initially. I finally went to the doctor in July and I had blood tests and a MRI. Only issue was B12 was very low so I've had a series of five injections so far but it has made no difference so far to my period. I'm not sure if I can be bothered getting it investigated further and might just see what happens.

What does your doctor think, Jupiter?

Estrella wrote: Mon Nov 25, 2019 7:53 am Thank you for that link Ella. It’s exactly what I need. My troubles are not with my periods (they’re fine, although my cycle is getting shorter the older I get) but I’m struggling badly with mid cycle doom. It starts immediately after ovulation. It’s so bad this month I’ve actually taken today off as a mental health day as there’s no way I could function professionally.
I had this this month for the first time that I'm aware of and it was ridiculous, like suddenly falling down a well. It was so extreme that it was glaringly obvious it was hormonal, which helped as it couldn't be mistaken for "genuine" emotions, but, bloody hell, the despair (at, for example, my butternut squash puree turning out too loose :ella: ). Also with the shortening cycles. I'm 51 though so have been lucky that it's only just started.
The falling down a well is such a perfect analogy for it. I absolutely know it’s hormonal but god, it’s awful. I feel all numb today but am going into work anyway.

He suspects peri-menapause but wanted to rule out other causes first. I think his next step would be to refer me to a consultant but I'm not sure there is much point.

I suppose if there isn't anything you can/would do about it, there isn't much point. I saw my doctor again today - I don't quite know why as there isn't much point for me either! She pointed out my periods are regular but I've got to do blood tests 6 weeks apart. Her specialist is gynae/menopause which is really helpful.

Bumping this as my question doesn’t warrant its own thread but is period related.

My period arrived yesterday after a 10 day break. I’m not sure whether to leave it as just one of those things and see if it happens again or get an appointment booked to see someone.

I think unless you regularly get irregular periods, iykwim, they won't do much about it.

I would just start tracking your cycle including any other potentially related symptoms like migraine and see how it goes.

I have just had the most amazing news. I went to see my dermatologist for my usual review. He mentioned blood tests and I told him I'd had a load of them recently and he looked at my medical records; then said if my periods were odd then it was likely to be because of my new skin medication which affects your hormones! We looked at my history and the timescale fits in perfectly; I missed the first one when I went up to the full dose and they've been light, if regular, ever since.

So it doesn't look like I am menopausal after all! I cried with relief - and now I can "enjoy" having light, regular, pain-free periods.

How are thing with you Olive and PD?
