Info on our local pub page. V B and J are community owners of the pub.

Should us punters (in the pub on the 4th, and served and chatted to L for a bit, with her mask mainly on, but a bit down) been texted?

I'm just seeking to understand the track and trace. Her partner B is seriously ill in ICU. It's very sad.

"B, V and J (who are in a bubble together) have all tested positive for Covid 19. They have passed the relevant info onto track and trace.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We have been waiting for confirmation regarding further instructions, which has been a difficult process.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
J has not been into work since 3rd Sept as she was on holiday but came home when she developed symptoms to isolate. No need to isolate if you saw her at work as her symptoms developed outside of the scope for track and trace advice.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
V and B have not been to work since 6th September.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🆘If you have been in close contact with V or B from 3rd September for more than a 15 minutes without mitigation then please follow the advice and isolate. This only includes you if you had face to face contact and their was no mask worn by either party and you were closer than 2 meters.
If you can not get tests because that is proving disappointingly difficult in London then please note there is a walk in centre for urgent needs that will take you without an appointment in).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Rest assured that we are keeping the pub deep cleaned continuously. Every table and chair is cleaned after use and the pub is cleaned for 3 hours every morning.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are sorry to have to pass this information on, but it’s important that we do so that we can make sure our community stays safe. Your safety is our top priority"

I'm not sure Marth.

I was talking to a friend earlier, and her dad (and partner) are now isolating because a customer in a cafe they were also in has tested positive.

I would say, going off what we're being told in schools, no.
Smunder Woman wrote: Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:22 pm The entire PE department in Joe's school are at home isolating as one of the staff tested positive. Apparently none of the children are counted as close contacts, so it sounds as though it's someone who doesn't directly teach (although I have no idea if this is even a thing).
If the PE is being taught outside then the students won't count as close contacts. The teachers won't have been continuously within 2 metres of any individual child for 15 minutes+.

If anyone in a school tests positive, it's mostly the local public health bodies deciding who needs to quarantine - not the national track & trace.

Honestly, it's a shitshow at the moment. Our cover and duty rotas are creaking under the pressure of people having to self-isolate. Most of our local schools have at least one year group at home. :twitch: I think we will be moving to "blended learning" a lot sooner than we thought.

They're not having practical PE as such, they're walking around a gym hall and then in a normal classroom. I'm not massively worried about it, I'm sure we've all been in contact with somebody with some level of exposure by now, I was mostly just curious about how other staff were contacts but not any children. Probably due to being in an office together though.

Thanks, good, because it's been 12 days.

I know someone else whose school has a similar report Smun, and the parents are assuming office staff or cleaner. I'm not sure how that might link with PE mind you, but just that there is another example of a school where someone with no pupil contact has a case.

Yeah, I'm sure there's lots of possibilities we're not necessarily aware of. It's fine, until we're told we have to isolate at some point :))

In the case of a teacher being infected, it's unlikely that large groups would *have* to isolate. Basically, according to government guidelines the teachers are 'distant' from the child because they're not literally breathing into their face for 15 minutes - even if you have all been in a classroom, unmasked, with zero ventilation. Plus, if you are teaching you are projecting your voice so... :woteva: And you can't teach a full 2 metres away from any children - otherwise why don't we just do distant learning? In summary, teachers could be the Typhoid Mary in this situation, but don't blame the school as it's the ridiculous government guidelines.

L’s school sent his year home because of a child testing positive. Her mother (also positive) teaches at the school and had taught other year groups but they weren’t affected as she wore a mask, kept her distance etc.

A school here has closed entirely because one year 8 has tested positive. It will be partially opening later this week I've read.

Closed a school entirely?!

Our bubble gets sent home if a child tests positive and I think siblings have to isolate too. I don’t know what happens if it’s a teacher. I do know M’s Spanish teacher has been out for a week and the PE coach was out for 2 weeks so I’m assuming it only applies to children?

Unless the local council are very keen, there must be more to it than that I think.

My colleague said that it was because teachers are teaching across the year bubbles but head teacher comms - printed in local press says "... followed the national guidance and, as we have a number of teachers who will need to self-isolate for 14 days, we will need to close school temporarily...".

Is that then perhaps that they don't have enough cover to stay open rather than directly because of transmission danger maybe?

Yes, it sounds like that, Goat.

One school has closed here but that was due to a number of staff testing positive.

Oh yes, not having enough cover would make sense.
